As it turned out, fragments with different molecular weights have different biological activities. The University of Regensburg (Germany) measured the effect of hydrolyzed (crushed) hyaluronic acid on gene expression, and along the way found that it affects more than 40 genes. Being born and leaving the cell, hyaluronic acid envelops it in a protective layer, preventing oxidation.

As this shell is pulled apart by enzymes, pieces of various sizes are formed. But it should be borne in mind that such small pieces can create stress on the skin, and this is not always desirable. At the same time, large pieces (which are much more than 50 kDa) do not penetrate into the skin, but create a gas-permeable film that maintains the moisture level on the surface.

Attention! In dry climates, hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the skin, leading to total dehydration. If you are susceptible to such phenomena, do not use transparent lotions and serums with a high concentration of hyaluronate (2-3rd place on the label) during periods of "dryness" or apply cream on top. This "warning" does not apply to emulsions (milk, cream-gel, fluid, cream).

You should be more attentive to the wording. If you are promised that the product "contains 80% hyaluronic acid complex", look at the label, I guarantee that sodium hyaluronate will be in the last rows. This means that the "complex" consists mainly of water, at best water and extracts. Hyaluronic acid should be in the top five.
