Adult diapers Seni: overview, types, characteristics. How to choose the right size diapers for bedridden patients - an overview of products by manufacturers and prices

Today we will tell you about how to choose the right diapers for bedridden patients and those who suffer from incontinence. In addition, from the presented article you will find out which company diapers are best suited for a certain category of people, as well as exactly how to calculate their size.

General information about diapers

In our country, diapers appeared more than twenty years ago and immediately became extremely in demand and popular. Thanks to them, young mothers and fathers easily solved a large number of problems that are associated with caring for newborn children.

However, it should be noted that there is another number of delicate situations where diapers for adults (bed patients, patients with incontinence) are required. Manufacturers did not disregard this category of people. As you know, such diapers are very often used as a means of hygiene and prevention of bedsores in bedridden patients, as well as those who suffer from urinary incontinence.

To choose the right diapers for bedridden patients (night or day), you should follow strict instructions. We will present it below.

Choosing diapers for bedridden patients

Before you go shopping at the nearest pharmacy, you should understand what kind of diaper you or your ward needs. After all, despite the external similarity, these products can differ markedly in their size, properties, and so on.

So, in order to properly buy diapers for bedridden patients, you should pay attention to:

  1. Diaper size.
  2. The amount of absorption.
  3. Locking mechanism (fasteners).
  4. The material from which it is made (absorbent layers).
  5. Additional liners (separately for men and women).

Let's consider these criteria in more detail.

Diaper size

Before you buy panty diapers for bedridden patients, you should definitely measure the volume of the patient's abdomen. In this case, it must strictly pass through the most protruding points.

Diapers for people with incontinence and bedridden patients need to be bought only in size. After all, being tempted by such properties as a large amount of absorbency, you can easily get into trouble for yourself, which will consist in leakage or discomfort while wearing the product.

Size L is the best option. Although too large a diaper can cause inconvenience and leakage.

Absorption volume

Now you know what you should pay attention to before buying diapers for bedridden patients. Their size is very important. However, with such a purchase, you should also consider how often you plan to change the diaper. If you do not have the opportunity to do this regularly, then we recommend choosing them with an increased amount of absorbency. By the way, the same applies to diapers that are intended for night use.

Locking mechanism (clasps)

If diapers were not purchased for single use, then ideally, a reusable fixation mechanism should be selected. So you can take off and put on the diaper several times on a bedridden patient. It should also be noted that Velcro fasteners are the most reliable option. With them, the replacement of products will be an easy and fast process.

Diaper material (inner and outer layers)

When choosing one or another diaper for bedridden patients, you should pay special attention to the material from which it was made. The inner absorbent layer is the same for almost all diapers. As for the outer, it can be "breathable" or "non-breathable".

The first option bears such a name, since this layer has the ability to pass air. The second is an oilcloth thin material that practically “does not breathe”. By the way, it is this tissue that “rustles” while the patient is walking.

So which of the presented diapers is better to choose? For patients with sensitive skin, as well as those who, despite their diseases, are trying to lead an active lifestyle, it is best to purchase "breathable" diapers that can provide healthy conditions for the skin and maximum comfort during everyday activities. In other cases, you can buy oilcloth diapers, especially since they are much cheaper.

Additional liners

Some physicians for sedentary disabled or active people with urinary incontinence recommend wearing diapers in conjunction with special liners. This is an economical way to use diapers.

As a rule, such liners are produced both for the fairer sex and for the strong half of humanity. They differ in form. The male version of the liner is usually in the form of a kind of pocket that is attached to underwear or a diaper. It should also be noted that such gaskets are equipped with a special protective layer along the edges. It is he who prevents the flow.

If you use the liners presented, then you can safely purchase even the thinnest diapers. They will be absolutely invisible under clothes, and in such a combination they will provide you with full and long-term protection.

The sequence of actions when buying diapers

Diapers for bedridden patients, the dimensions of which are determined very easily, should be purchased deliberately. After all, such products are far from a cheap pleasure, and in which case it will not work to return them to the pharmacy again. That is why before buying adult diapers, you must adhere to the following rules:

1. With a centimeter tape, measure the volume of the widest part of the patient's torso in the hips, taking into account all the protruding points of the abdomen.

2. Call all nearby pharmacies and other medical companies that sell diapers. The operator should ask:

  • what models of products they have available;
  • Do they have diapers in the size you want?
  • whether they sell diapers by the piece;
  • what is the price of a pack or one diaper.

All the results of a kind of survey should be recorded and saved in order to compare them later and choose the most convenient and economical option.

3. Get several diapers of the right size, but with different amounts of absorbency (for comparison).

4. When you decide what suits you, you can easily reduce the cost of diapers by about 10-16% by purchasing them in small (for example, up to 6 packs) or medium (from 15 packs) in bulk.

Models and their features

Diapers for bedridden patients (3rd, 4th and other numbers) are produced by different manufacturers. Each of them is trying to make their products competitive by improving absorbency and other properties. In this regard, in order to choose the right diapers, you are advised to try out all the options. After all, this is the only way to understand which models suit you the most. It should also be noted that diapers of various manufacturers differ not only in their specific properties, but also in cost. And the cheapest ones are not always the worst.

To understand which diapers for bedridden patients (Seni, Tena, Molikare, etc.) are the best, consider them in more detail.

consumer properties

The outer layer of such products has an elastic soft polyethylene coating, which well protects clothes from getting wet. The diapers also have elastic bands around the legs and barriers to prevent lateral leakage.

The absorbent layer of diapers contains a huge amount of superabsorbent, which allows them to be used for the most severe forms of incontinence. In addition, a special liner called Dry Plus distributes liquid very quickly throughout the entire inner layer of the underpants. They are fixed with sticky and reliable fasteners. Also, Molikare diapers have a dot code that signals that a diaper needs to be changed.

A modern woman cannot imagine caring for a small child without disposable diapers. One of the most important nuances when using them is the right size, which is determined based on the weight of the crumbs in kilograms. If the diaper is small or too large, the baby will experience discomfort, irritation and redness of the skin are possible. How not to get confused in the proposed variety of goods from well-known manufacturers?

What are the size ranges of diapers of different brands based on?

Four is the most popular size (number) of children's disposable diapers.

It should also be noted that the sizes seem to overlap each other. For example, if the two is designed for 3–6 kg, then the three does not start with seven, but is indicated by 5–9 kg. This is done because children with the same weight can differ in their complexion. Some babies are skinny, while others are fatter. And if in the first version, the second size is still suitable for a toddler weighing 6 kg, then in the second case, parents should buy larger diapers, because a small diaper can rub the skin and cause inconvenience to the child.

The most popular brands of diapers today:

  • affordable Libero and Bella Happy;
  • more expensive and, according to numerous tests and reviews of parents, high-quality Huggies Elite Soft and Pampers Premium Care;
  • the most expensive and highest quality brands (according to numerous reviews) presented in Russia are Merries and Goo.n.

When deciding which brand to give preference to, parents are guided by many criteria, in particular the reaction of their baby's skin. If the child is comfortable and there is no allergy, then the choice was made correctly.

The first size of diapers intended for newborns is the same for all brands: they are designed for weights up to five kilograms.

Experience shows that it is not worth buying a lot of the smallest diapers. Newborn babies grow very fast, and after 1-2 weeks they will need larger diapers.

How to choose the right size of disposable diapers, depending on the weight in kilograms and the age of the child

The comfort of the baby depends on how correctly parents choose diapers. There are several rules that will help determine the size.

  1. Be guided by the weight of the child indicated on the package.
  2. If the baby's weight is closer to the upper limit indicated on the diaper packaging, it is better to take a larger size, especially for boys, so that they are comfortable.
  3. Putting the diaper on the baby and straightening all the rubber bands, pay attention to how well he fits. If the toiletry item is loose on the skin in one or more places, then you have chosen the wrong size and it will leak.
  4. If, in terms of kilograms, the size of the diaper matches the weight of the child, and when you try to put it on, the sides do not converge or fasten with difficulty, then it is already small. It is recommended to replace it with a larger one.

There are times when diapers of the same brand and size, but of different types (for example, regular and in the form of panties) sit differently on the child. First of all, it depends on the design and model of the toilet item, so when buying, consider the following:

  • panties are designed for a certain fullness of the baby;
  • diapers with stretchy sides can be adjusted, fasten the diaper tighter or looser;
  • Some diapers don't have stretchy sides or elastic at the back, so they're slightly wider at the waist and not as snug against the skin.

Is it worth using diapers one size larger than necessary?

Some parents, in order to save money, in order not to change diapers longer, buy them one size larger than the baby needs. They naively believe that in this case, the diaper will absorb more liquid, and the time of its use can be increased by several hours. Experts do not recommend doing this:

  • first of all, the child will be uncomfortable, because he will hardly be able to reduce his legs, and the extra material will easily rub delicate skin;
  • no matter how good the absorbency of the toilet item, if the rubber bands do not fit snugly against the child’s body, the liquid simply will not have time to get on the material, but will flow out.

Therefore, doctors and diaper manufacturers are advised to buy hygiene products for children exactly in size.

Choosing the right size disposable diapers is a simple task. To do this, you need to know the exact weight of your child and focus on the behavior and mood of the baby while using this hygiene product. If the diaper is chosen correctly, consists of high-quality materials, then the baby will be comfortable in it. The main thing is to monitor changes in body weight in order to correct the number of purchased diapers in time.

Adult diapers "ABENA", Denmark (No. 1 in Scandinavia)

Anatomically shaped disposable diapers "ABENA"(a series of ECO diapers) - made of modern breathable materials.

Pampers for adults ABENA composition:

The inner surface of the Abri-Form Premium diaper is made of soft non-woven material that allows moisture to pass through in one direction and this ensures dryness of the skin.
The outer surface of the diaper is breathable, non-slip, made of thin plastic environmentally friendly material.
The absorbent layer consists of fluff pulp with a superabsorbent polymer that turns liquids into gels and has antibacterial properties to limit odor. The absorbent layer of the diaper is shaped for use by both men and women.

Advantages:

Abri-Form Premium diapers have side panels that protect against liquid leakage on the sides, the diaper does not contain latex elements, which reduces the risk of allergic reactions. An elasticated waistband at the back keeps the diaper snug against the body and prevents fluid from leaking down the back.

Diaper fastening system on the patient's body: four reusable double Velcro fasteners.
Across the entire surface of the Abri-Form Premium diaper there is a diaper moisture indicator (blue stripe).

How to choose the right diaper for adults?

- Diaper size. Before buying, it is necessary to measure the volume of a person’s abdomen, that is, the largest girth in the hips. The measuring tape should pass through the most protruding points of the abdomen. Pampers are recommended to buy strictly by size. Tempted by greater absorbency, you can get yourself in big trouble due to leakage or discomfort in the process of wearing. The best size in most cases is size L.
- Absorption capacity of the diaper. For bedridden patients and for active people who do not have the opportunity to change diapers often, it is preferable to choose diapers with increased absorbency. The same goes for diapers that are worn at night.
- Diaper locking mechanism. The most reliable option is Velcro fasteners (ideally reusable).
- The material from which the diaper is made. The absorbent inner layer of all diapers today is almost the same, but the outer layer can be "breathable", that is, let air through, and "non-breathable", which is a thin oilcloth material. The latter may also rustle while walking. For people with sensitive skin, as well as those leading an active lifestyle, it is better to choose "breathable" diapers that provide healthy skin conditions and maximum comfort during active daily activities.
- Additional diaper inserts. For active people or sedentary disabled people with incontinence problems, wearing diapers together with inserts can also be recommended for economical use of diapers. These inserts are available for both men and women. The male version of the insert has the shape of a kind of pocket that can be attached to underwear or on a diaper. The liner is equipped with a special protective layer around the edges that prevents leakage. When using inserts, you can buy the thinnest diapers that will be completely invisible under clothes and in this combination will provide guaranteed protection.

Adult diapers "Super Seni Air" (Poland)

Breathable diapers for persons suffering from moderate to severe incontinence.

Adult diapers can be used both for people leading an active lifestyle, and for bedridden patients. By using a breathable laminate instead of a traditional insulating film, the wearer's skin can breathe freely. As a result, the risk of diaper rash and bedsores is minimized. The use of breathable diapers significantly increases patient comfort and keeps the skin in good condition. Instead of ordinary Velcro, the product uses special Velcro fasteners that are securely attached to the outer layer of the diaper.
Super Seni are "daytime" diapers, i.e. with standard absorbency.
This group of products can be identified by the color of the stripes on the breathable laminate - in Super Seni they are blue.
It is extremely important to choose the correct diaper size for the patient. To ensure complete protection against leaks, you should pay attention to the fact that the product fits snugly to the body both in the groin and at the waist. Often people choose diapers that are too large, a result of the misconception that a larger size means more safety. However, the slightly higher absorbency of the larger size does not provide better protection if the size is not correct; on the contrary - too large a size can cause fluid to leak out.
Super Seni diapers are:
+ absorbency- a double absorbent layer with superabsorbent, a delicate layer of non-woven material, a layer of liquid-distributing cellulose - a protective film;
+ perfect body fit- Elasticated waistband at front and back lycra cuffs in the groin area; Double Velcro fasteners for a secure fit.
+ comfort- humidity indicator, soft outer layer (breathable laminate);
+ security- Moisture is retained in the depth of the diaper, away from the skin; the breathability of the laminate guarantees a reduction in the risk of diaper rash and bedsores; side skirts protect against the flow of liquid on the sides; the absence of latex elements reduces the risk of allergic reactions (Latex Free)
+ stealth- due to the white color of the laminate and its similarity to the fabric, the diapers remain invisible even under light-colored clothes, and also do not rustle; the special Odor Stop property limits the appearance of unpleasant odors

Adult diapers sizes:

The group of breathable Super Seni diapers is available in five sizes:

Modern women cannot imagine their motherhood without such a convenient little thing as a disposable diaper. Their choice in the children's goods market is striking in its diversity, but certain difficulties arise when buying diapers. What is the best size for a child based on how many kilograms he weighs?

What causes the difference in the size of disposable diapers

Today the market is filled with diapers from numerous manufacturers and different lines of the same brand:

  • Haggis;
  • Bella;
  • Libero;
  • Pampers;
  • Yes Yes;
  • Mooney;
  • Merries.

It is very easy to get confused in such a variety, especially if you have never encountered the need to use diapers before.

The first brand of disposable diapers that appeared on the Russian market is Pampers (Pampers). The name is sonorous, the product is necessary and completely new, as a result, the word "diapers" has become firmly established in use. Later, products from other global manufacturers appeared in stores, but out of habit, all of them are popularly called diapers, which is fundamentally wrong.

What is the difference between large and small hygiene products

There are two differences between large and small diapers.

  1. degree of absorption. The amount of urine excreted by the child is proportional to the weight of his body, as well as the amount of liquid consumed (including milk), which is interconnected. Therefore, in terms of the degree of absorption, one should focus on the weight of the crumbs.
  2. Diaper size in centimeters. This aspect is also directly related to body weight, based on which it is easy to determine the average waist and the required length of a disposable diaper.

Therefore, it is logical that the main indicator for determining the size of an item of children's toilet is the body weight of the child. The only exceptions are diapers intended for younger students and teenagers. They are based on age, not weight.

The first disposable diapers used sawdust as an absorbent layer. To date, they are made from cellulose, which is much more convenient for those who directly use them.

On many packages of disposable diapers, you will also see the age for which the given size is supposedly intended. But this indicator is often insignificant, since the mass of even newborn children can vary greatly, and the process of development and growth proceeds differently, as a result of which the weight of the crumbs does not always meet the norms and standards.

What other diapers are there based on their purpose and method of use

If we talk in more detail about the size ranges of disposable baby diapers from different manufacturers, then it should also be mentioned that there is another classification that determines their type:

  • hygiene products, where Velcro is used as a fastener;
  • briefs designed to teach a child to use the toilet. At their core, these are the same diapers, but instead of fasteners, they have an elastic band;
  • underpants with the so-called wet effect, in which the absorption of moisture occurs slowly. Thus, the child feels discomfort and the need to fight it, but if the baby does not have time to get rid of the soiled diaper for some time, urine is completely absorbed, which will not allow irritation to appear on the skin;
  • underpants intended for use during the night;
  • absorbent swimwear.

Comparative characteristics of the most popular diapers from different manufacturers by weight of the child in kilograms, age and size

Depending on the type of disposable diaper, the size range of the same manufacturer may have different indicators. Particular attention should be paid to products for newborns, since they can differ significantly for each brand. So, some companies produce two versions of toilet items for babies that have just been born:

  • intended for full-term babies with normal weight;
  • suitable for premature babies even with very small body weight.

How to choose the right diapers for your baby

Even if you list only the most famous brands of disposable diapers, the variety is very large, and it can be difficult to determine what is right for you. Therefore, in order not to get confused in a wide variety, you need to focus on a few nuances.

  1. The first parameter to consider when choosing a diaper is the baby's body weight. Larger products are more absorbent and their cm values are also larger. Even if your baby was born prematurely and his weight is very small, you can find the right size for him.

    You should not use diapers designed for a baby that is heavier than yours, as the baby will feel uncomfortable in them and there is a high chance of leakage due to the lack of a snug fit.

  2. The activity of the baby is another indicator that will help you make a choice in favor of a certain type of diaper. Children develop in different ways. Many begin to sit only at six months, which is completely normal. But these terms often deviate both up and down. The same goes for the ability to stand and walk. Therefore, some babies may need panty diapers sooner than others.
  3. Pay attention to possible additives. Many manufacturers soak disposable diapers with various emollient lotions. But the skin of babies is very sensitive and, at times, it is fragrances that can cause allergies. If the crumbs have a tendency to allergic reactions, it is better to opt for hygiene products without impregnation.
  4. Estimated duration of diaper use. Some manufacturers, such as Gong and Mooney, have released a series of hygiene products with increased absorbency. They can be used for 10 hours, which allows you not to change the toilet item at night or will be useful in case of a long trip, when it will not be possible to change it on the road.

Differences between the subject of children's hygiene of the same size, but different manufacturers

In practice, it may turn out that diapers of the same size, but produced by different manufacturers, may differ in width and height. This is due to the presence or absence of elastic inserts and elastic bands on the belt.

The larger the area of the disposable diaper belt is occupied by an elastic band, the more securely it adheres to the baby's body, excluding the possibility of leaks.

Disposable diapers will make life much easier for parents and give the baby a feeling of comfort if you can choose the right size for your child. By following the above tips, making the right choice will become easier.
