DIY pencil case made of cardboard. Simple ideas: how to sew a pencil case. Denim pencil case

Children, unfortunately, are often not particularly attentive, so they lose or even completely forget their pencil cases with pens and pencils. Also, office supplies quickly stain pencil cases, rendering them unusable. If you don’t use them, your backpacks and bags will get dirty. In view of all this, it makes sense to bring one great idea to life. We're talking about creating a pencil case out of paper with your own hands. Moreover, this will not just be some useful craft. The fact is that such a pencil case can also be used as a bookmark. It turns out that this is a 2-in-1 thing. Funny faces of animals or cartoon characters drawn on it will give the craft a special brightness and also make its use more enjoyable.

What do you need to create a paper pencil case?

All you need is a square of paper, glue and markers.

Advice

A small pencil case is quite suitable for two or three, that is, several pens or pencils, and even a first-grade student can create it.

To create a pencil case with your own hands, you need to take a square sheet of paper. For example, with dimensions of 17x17 centimeters. The most important thing here is that the paper is as thick as possible. A pencil case made from too thin paper will not have time to wear out, but will simply fall apart. A square sheet of paper should be folded in half, then unfolded and each side folded towards the center, where there is a fold. The corner of the paper on the right is folded to the first vertical fold, and the corner on the other side must be folded, respectively, to the 2nd vertical fold. After folding the paper, you will see that it turns out to be a pencil case. Next you need to glue it with reverse side corner - this will help the pencil case not to open.

It would be nice to draw the face of some animal on the finished product or color it according to your taste. Now pens, pencils and even a ruler won’t get lost, and they won’t stain your backpack or bag. In addition, such a pencil case can easily be used as a bookmark!

Complex pencil case

To create a complex pencil case you will need scissors, a stationery knife, a cardboard cylinder, fabric, a zipper, thread with a needle and a pencil. The stages of making a pencil case are extremely simple. The cylinder is cut into 2 parts. One will be longer, and the second will be shorter. Next, the bottom of the cylinder is traced onto cardboard and fabric. You need to cut 2 circles from it. And 2 more mugs should be made of cardboard. Next, the cylinder is wrapped in fabric, but so that a little of it remains at the edge. From the edges of the material, the distance along the height of the short part of the cylinder is marked, then a cut is made. You need to sew a zipper between the long and short pieces of fabric. Next, the resulting piece of material is folded lengthwise, leaving the front side on the inside, after which everything is stitched along the edge. The result is a cover. The short and long cylinders are inserted into it, matching them with the lock. And circles made of cardboard, as well as fabric, are placed up and down. You need to put a cotton pad between them, this will make the pencil case soft and voluminous. The fabric circle is sewn to the cover, then it is removed and turned right side out. After that, it is put back on the cylinder and everything is glued.

Pencil case from a disc box

The part of the case where the disc was is cut off. You need to cut out this circle with a stationery knife. Next, a rectangle is cut out of thick cardboard and placed inside the case. Then take the required size of fabric cut, wrap it around cardboard and secure it with glue. You can also print out some interesting, colorful cover and stick it on your pencil case.

Conclusion:

A school pencil case is a useful and, alas, often faulty accessory. It should be in the arsenal of every schoolchild. You can make it from paper in many different ways. If you don’t want to spend a lot of time fiddling around, you can make it from a disc box.

Making a pencil case out of paper with your own hands

Paper pencil case

Didn’t they lie scattered at the bottom of the backpack, but did they lie neatly folded with the child? Find out in our master class with photos on sewing a school pencil case.

Back to school. This means that they will again be piled up on the table, in a backpack, or scattered throughout the apartment. But ? A bright one will help with this; it will be a pleasure to put all the pens in it. Such a cool school pencil case will be another way in the classroom.

To sew a school pencil case from fabric with your own hands, you will need:

  • Fabric - 2 types for front and inside(22 cm wide each)
  • Zipper - 23 cm
  • Scissors

How to make a pencil case with your own hands: step-by-step master class

Step 1. From each type of fabric for the inside and front of the school pencil case, cut 2 rectangles measuring 24 cm x 14 cm. You should have 4 small rectangles of fabric.

Step 2. Once the rectangles of fabric are ready, grab the zipper. Place one piece of fabric for the inside of the pencil case (in our case, the fabric in black and white stripes) in front of you, face up. Attach the zipper to the edge of the fabric with the zipper facing up.

Step 3. Then place one piece of fabric on top of the zipper, which will be the front part of the pencil case, pattern down. Pin the zipper together with two pieces of fabric using sewing pins.

Step 4. Start stitching the fabric along this edge of the zipper where the two pieces of fabric are attached. When you get close to where the zipper is, stop sewing, tie the thread, and move the zipper out of the way, unzipping it. Then sew everything all the way down. Turn the pieces of fabric so that the right side is facing you. After flashing it should look like this:

Step 5. Now you have to do the same on the other side of the zipper. Turn the fabric with the end of the zipper facing you. Take two other pieces of fabric. Place the fabric for the outer part of the pencil case with the pattern down, and on top of it place another piece of fabric for the inside of the pencil case, with the front side facing you. On top of these two pieces of fabric, place the two to which the zipper is already sewn. So the fabric for the inside is on the inside, and the fabric for the outside is on either side of the inside (one part facing you, the other facing down).

Sew along the zipper, sandwiching the stitching side of the zipper between the two pieces of fabric underneath.

Step 6 Now take your pencil case fabric and place it so that the right sides of the main (outer) fabric are touching each other and the inner fabric is on the outside.

Sew along the long, raw edge at the bottom.

Step 7 Then fold the pieces of fabric from which you are sewing a school pencil case so that the zipper is in the center. Make sure all your layers are flat inside.

Step 8 Open the zipper halfway. Sew each of the raw short sides. You're stitching the ends of the zipper as well, so just make sure it zips up properly and everything moves when you stitch it.

Now make the side corners in the school pencil case with your own hands. To do this, take one of the four corners and flatten it with your fingers to form a triangle with just a side seam going straight to the center of your triangle. Sew along the base of the triangle and then cut off the sharp end. Do this on all 4 corners.

Turn the finished pencil case right side out and let your child fill it with their school supplies.

Now you know how to quickly sew a comfortable pencil case for a child from fabric with your own hands. Such a wonderful pencil case can become not only an organizer for a child’s stationery and other school supplies, but also a wonderful cosmetic bag for a mother, sister or grandmother. All that remains is to choose the appropriate fabric.

It has already become an established tradition to purchase school supplies at stationery stores. But it is quite possible to make the most necessary attributes of a schoolchild - for example, a simple pencil case for pens and pencils - with your own hands. Such a product will compare favorably with the accessories of other children. And every time the child takes it in his hands, he will be able to feel the warmth of the care of his mother’s, grandmother’s or sister’s hands. Exist different ways making pencil cases from various types of materials.

Let's get started!

Pencil case from a box

The simplest but most interesting school pencil case can be made with your own hands from an ordinary box. It is enough to place a velvet or leather lining on its bottom and cover the walls beautiful paper. A box made of unpainted cardboard looks no less original and very stylish.

Pencil case made of cardboard cylinder and fabric

You can make a pencil case from a cardboard cylinder and fabric. For this you will need:

  • one fairly wide and long cardboard cylinder or two shorter cylinders with the same diameter;
  • piece of fabric;
  • zipper;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • sewing thread and needle;
  • stationery knife.

If we use one cylinder, then cut it into two parts of unequal height - one should be shorter, the other longer.

If we use two cylinders, then cut off half from one, which we use together with the second whole cylinder.

We outline the bottom of the cylinder in advance on thick cardboard and fabric. We make two cardboard and two fabric circles.

Take a piece of fabric, the width of which should be enough to wrap the cylinder, leaving a little material at the edge. Along the height of the short part of the cylinder, mark the distance from the edge of the prepared piece of fabric and make a cut. We sew a zipper between the resulting narrow and wide pieces of material.

We fold the resulting piece of fabric along the right side inward, stitch along the edge.

We insert long and short cardboard cylinders into the resulting case, matching them with a zipper. (The side seam of the cover remains outside).

We place pre-cut cardboard and fabric circles below and above. Along the edge we sew a fabric circle to the cover placed on the cylinder.

You can place a cotton pad between the cardboard and the fabric for volume and softness.

Having sewn it on, remove the cover and turn it right side out. We put it on the cylinders again. We glue it.

DIY leather pencil case

A simpler option for making a pencil case for school with your own hands is to use a rectangular piece of bright leather to create it. Using a stationery knife, along a ruler, in a checkerboard pattern, we make parallel cuts on it.

Pencils or pens will be inserted into each of these cuts, like rods in a basket.

Having rolled up the pencil case into a tube, we intercept it beautiful ribbon, the edges of which can be sewn to a leather flap.

Felt pencil case

A charming, soft pencil case for markers or felt-tip pens can be made from felt.

To make such a pencil case we need:

  • Braid
  • Glue gun

We cut a rectangular blank from a piece. We can estimate the size by placing markers on it. Apply glue between the markers, as shown in the photo. The gap between markers will be 2.5 - 3 cm.

Fold the bottom of the fabric over, gluing it between the markers.

We take out markers. Apply strips of glue for the ribbons.

Glue the ribbons. Cut off the excess part.

We turn the pencil case over and apply glue for the ribbon with which we will wrap the pencil case. The glue strip should not be more than 5-6 cm on the right or left side of the pencil case.

Glue the tape. Please note that the tape is not glued along its entire length.

We wrap it in a tube along with markers.

This simple version of a pencil case can be made either from ordinary thick fabric or from oilcloth on a fabric basis. To make a pencil case we will need the material itself, a zipper, scissors and pins.

It will be most convenient to make a pencil case based on the size of the zipper. We cut out two identical rectangles from our material with a length equal to the size of the zipper.

We position the material in relation to the zipper as shown in the photo.

We sew the material to the zipper with threads. This is a temporary stitch. After we make the seam on the machine, we will remove the temporary seam.
