Development of a newborn child - the ninth month of life. Development and nutrition of a child at nine months What to do if the child is 9 months old

If vegetable purees and soups, veal, beef (possibly also chicken and turkey), cereals, and fruit purees were previously successfully introduced into the baby’s diet, then at 9 months a child can eat almost everything the same, only the portions become a little larger and, If you already have enough teeth, then you don’t need to puree the food with a blender, but mash it with a fork. Complementary feeding at 9 months remains virtually unchanged in quality and composition from what it was a month earlier.

What new foods can a baby eat at 9 months:

  • white bread in small pieces;
  • crackers;
  • cookie;
  • kefir, cottage cheese (When choosing, carefully monitor the expiration date and storage temperature; such kefir is useful, the shelf life of which does not exceed 7 days. And cottage cheese should not be cheap, it is better to buy special children's cottage cheese or cottage cheese in a store from a manufacturer you are confident in so that the production address and expiration date are indicated on the packaging: ideally no more than 5 days);
  • You can make meatballs from the meat and feed the child small pieces from a baby fork: the baby will learn to chew food;
  • puree from boiled fish (pike perch, cod, sea bass, pollock, carp): first boil the fish well, then separate the fillets from the bones (carefully! Make sure not to miss even a small bone!) and puree with a blender;
  • small pieces of pureed vegetables will help your baby learn to chew faster;
  • Also, a child at 9 months can be offered to eat seasonal berries without large seeds and fruits in pieces.

How much should a 9 month old baby eat?

At the full 9 months, it is still necessary to maintain at least 2 feedings per day with breast milk or a highly adapted milk formula. During the 9th month, babies, on average, gain 500 grams in weight. A child should eat a volume of food equal to 1 liter per day, excluding drinks: tea, juice, water, compote. That is, 1 liter is complementary foods plus two feedings with formula or breast milk.

Content:

The most difficult period in the development of a baby is considered to be the first six months of life; after this period, a certain regime is established that stabilizes the situation. The age of 9 months is a very interesting time, because the baby already spends more time out of sleep, he consciously babbles and can show with gestures and sounds what interests him.

At the age of 9 months there will be no significant changes in body structure. All the baby’s organs are almost fully formed and functioning in full mode. This month will bring a weight gain of about 500 grams, but if this figure is slightly less or more, do not worry, because each child is individual. Overly active babies gain less weight, and quiet children may be a little large. However, gaining too much weight can be a harbinger of metabolic disorders, so you should regularly undergo a standard medical examination to prevent side effects. As for height, the norm is an increase of 1-2 cm.

At this stage, the muscles of the limbs are already quite strong, so the baby can easily rise independently from a position on his back and lay back down. Right now, most babies are trying to stand on their feet without help for the first time. The support can be a playpen, the back of a chair or sofa, the child holds tightly to the support and gets up little by little. Quite often, after the first lift, a child may cry, this does not mean that it hurts to stand on his feet, he just cannot sit back on his own, which causes panic in the baby. It is important to help the baby sit down and calm him down in a timely manner; a couple more attempts - and the little explorer will learn to do everything without your help.

The development of fine motor skills by 9 months is almost complete. The child confidently takes toys with both hands and is able to select the thing that interests him from several small objects. Now the child can crawl in different directions, turns around independently, knows how to fold and unfold toys, and also likes to hide.

For a growing body at 9 months, breast milk alone is no longer enough, so the baby’s diet must include the following foods:

  • porridge – buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, semolina;
  • vegetables - cabbage, zucchini, carrots, beets, potatoes;
  • fruits - apples, bananas, citrus fruits (in small quantities), apricots;
  • meat – beef, rabbit, chicken;
  • dairy products - kefir, yogurt, milkshakes.

In general, at 9 months there are few restrictions in terms of food: you should not offer your child smoked, salted and fried foods, you should also limit the intake of allergenic foods, everything else can be tried little by little.

The development of the newborn’s nervous system has not yet been completed, so the baby can be capricious with or without reason, but in no case should you ignore the baby’s crying, because in this way the baby shows you his dissatisfaction, and gets very upset when you do not react. But at the same time, you shouldn’t over-indulge your little capricious child either, because, having gotten used to hands and endless attention, it will be difficult to teach him to play on his own.

The nine-month mark is characterized by the active development of conversational skills, the baby pronounces numerous syllables, and the most developed ones can already speak individual words. To help the baby talk, at this time it is worth reading more, telling the baby poems, singing songs and involving him in conversation as often as possible, for example, asking what kind of blouse he likes: red or blue, what toy you will take outside: a teddy bear or bunny, etc.

9 months is the optimal time for a child to get acquainted with different types of animals. As a rule, kids quickly remember the names of animals and also imitate them, repeating the corresponding sounds. Colorful books and electronic posters will help with this. By this age, children are already able to put together simple puzzles, so you can offer the baby a children's lotto or soft cubes with pictures.

Since most babies at this age are already crawling around the apartment on their own, now it’s worth explaining to the baby such concepts as “Hot!” and “Danger!” In the kitchen, clearly show him that he is not allowed to touch the stove or open the doors on his own. Let him try to touch hot and cold objects lightly so that the baby himself understands how unpleasant it is. Be careful when storing chemicals - hide powders and detergents in an area out of reach of a child, remove cosmetics and perfume from accessible places.

At the age of 9 months, your baby can be offered a wide variety of toys. Particularly successful are:

  • soft and hard cubes, as well as pyramids - with their help, the child begins to build his first structures;
  • musical toys - telephone, microphone, musical instruments;
  • a set of dishes: in addition to toys, the baby should now already have her own plate, cup and spoon - this will help quickly teach the child to eat adult food;
  • balls: large and small, rubber and foam, plain and multi-colored - such toys not only help develop hand motor skills, but also allow you to learn colors in a playful way.

When choosing new ones at 9 months, pay attention to their quality and appearance. Objects with small and sharp parts are strictly prohibited, since the child diligently pulls everything into his mouth and can choke or cut himself.

Active games with a baby of this age can be very diverse: children love tossing, turning over, jumping. Now it’s worth diluting the usual exercises with special gymnastic equipment - balls, sticks, rings and crossbars. This will help develop muscles and strengthen the limbs. While supporting the baby under the arms, you can offer him to pull himself up - you will be surprised, but in most cases, a baby at 9 months can easily cope with this task. The main thing is not to overdo it when doing physical activity; let physical education bring you and your baby only joyful moments, then your child will continue to enjoy playing sports in the future.

  • children become more active in communicating with other children. Seeing each other, they try to crawl closer, get to know each other, and imitate their actions.

    It is because of this feeling of solidarity that, upon hearing the cry of another baby, your child may also pick up this minor note and support with a hysterical cry;

  • at 9 months, the child happily copies the simple actions of adults. So, the baby will happily learn to play “Ladushki”, “Peek-a-boo” and will diligently show with his hands how big he is.

Speech is active and understandable

  • Active and understandable speech continues to develop. The baby already knows his own name. Having heard it, the child quickly turns towards the sound or turns his head in search of it, demonstrates animation - he smiles and begins to wave his arms;
  • when asked “Where?” tries to find the named object with his eyes;
  • Having heard speech, the child listens carefully, reacting to intonations. If the tone is threatening or loud, this can seriously upset the baby;
  • Some children at this age already quite consciously pronounce their first “ma-ma” and “pa-pa,” which brings endless joy to their parents.

Physical development

The rate of weight gain continues its natural decline month after month. This is due to an increase in the child’s activity and motor capabilities. So, during the ninth month of life, the baby gains on average 450 - 500 grams.

Compared to birth weight, a 9 month old baby should gain 6 kilograms. This criterion of 9 months also depends on the constitution, diet, frequency of diseases and gender. A boy can be significantly ahead of a girl in body weight.

Growth gains are also somewhat reduced. By 10 months, the child will have grown another centimeter to one and a half.

All these figures are just an average digital expression of physical development. Each child is individual and is assessed by a doctor not only on the basis of specific tables.

A nine-month-old baby divides his sleep into two during the day and one at night. The total sleep duration is approximately 13 hours. Some children like to sleep a little more, others are already trying to switch to one nap during the day. True, the latter happens very rarely.

Many babies sleep through the night. Basically, these are children who are formula fed. It is more filling and stays in the stomach longer. The baby has to wake up to satisfy his feeling of hunger and the need for the act of sucking.

For the most part, a child’s food is practically adult food. If complementary feeding is started at 5 months, by 10 months the baby should already be receiving the main complementary foods - vegetables, cereals and meat.

Porridge

If you have normal gluten tolerance, you can include oatmeal and millet porridge in your diet. The child should also like multigrain porridge with pieces of fruit. You can either prepare them yourself or use store-bought ones.

It is advisable to wait up to a year with traditional semolina porridge. Digesting it will be difficult for a small stomach.

If the baby tolerates cow's milk well, eating milk porridge will only diversify the usual menu.

Vegetables

The range of vegetables eaten is also expanding. Almost everything is possible - zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, onions and beets. It turns out very tasty when combining several vegetables with meat puree. This dish is the perfect solution for lunch. Those who have already acquired teeth can try this combination of products in the form of soups. There is no need to add salt and spices when preparing lunch.

Meat

The main types of meat that children under one year old eat are rabbit, turkey, and lean pork. If the baby is not allergic and tolerates cow's milk protein well, you can add veal.

You should be careful with chicken meat. There's a good chance it's loaded with antibiotics and growth hormones. As a last resort, cook the breast. There will be fewer harmful substances there.

It is better to buy fresh, laboratory-tested meat - in a store or from reliable suppliers.

You can also buy industrially prepared purees. Only there, in addition to meat, there are five more items, including starch, salt, and vegetable oil. The choice is always up to the parents.

Fruits, berries and juices from them

This will be a great addition to your main diet. The main thing is to pay attention to the child’s reaction when introducing a new product. It is better to give preference to seasonal fruits and berries - apples, pears, plums, cherries, cherries and currants. It is better for children to feast on overseas delicacies after one year.

It is better not to abuse juices. Excess sugar in it often causes digestive problems and tooth decay.

Cook compotes without sugar or give freshly squeezed diluted juice.

Dairy

Children with an allergy to cow's milk proteins should consult an allergist before introducing these products into their diet.

How to develop a child at 9 months?

The development of a child at 9 months largely depends on the parents. However, not only in the ninth month. The most important rule is not to limit the child’s knowledge of the environment, and to protect this very environment.

Even though the baby is already grown up, carry him in your arms as much as you can afford (or as long as your back can allow). Maximum close contact with a baby up to a year and even more is the key to a wonderful relationship with him in the future.

In the development of motor skills, the main task is to prepare the child for upright walking. Strengthening the muscles of the legs and back - these are our goals.

Exercises on a fitball, gymnastics, swimming in the bathtub, stimulation of crawling - all these activities are aimed at strengthening the muscle corset and developing coordination in the baby.

Learning to crawl is also an important task. This expands the area of surrounding space available for exploration. By crawling and moving, the baby learns to determine the position of his body and becomes more familiar with its control.

Subsequently, children who crawled a lot in infancy are better oriented in unfamiliar places, it is easier for them to find shortcuts and master new routes.

To encourage your baby to crawl, lay him out on the floor more often and place his favorite toys in front of the baby. So, trying to get them, the baby will try to crawl closer. Move the toys further and further each time. Every day the child will crawl better and better.

A sensory box will help develop fine motor skills. It is a container filled with various objects.

Everything that is in such a box must be safe for the child.

Most of the space can be filled with dry beans or large pasta, for example. Small toys will help supplement the contents. It will be interesting for the baby to dig around, sort through all this variety and find pleasant surprises.

Show your child how to play Ladushki, Magpie-Crow and Peek-a-boo. These simple games from Soviet childhood will add even more variety to your leisure time together.

Be sure to talk to your baby, read poems to him, recite nursery rhymes, sing before bed. Now the child will not be able, of course, to repeat all these words after you. But later, around the age of two, you will be surprised at his vocabulary.

Buy small books made of thick cardboard or fabric and let your baby flip through the pages himself.

When should you worry?

There is a certain list of what a child at 9 months must be able to do:

  • sits without support for up to 10 minutes;
  • crawls or tries to crawl;
  • stands on his feet against a support or makes his first attempts to do so;
  • holds a mug with both hands;
  • distinguishes his loved ones from strangers;
  • reacts to his name.

If these skills and actions are not available, consult a doctor.

The child's development at 9 months is also assessed by a neurologist. If there are any problems, he will definitely tell you how to solve them.

A very interesting period in the life of babies is 9 months. Some children at this age already manage to take their first steps independently and pronounce their first words. And others are still just silently studying the world. In this case, parents should not be upset. This is not yet an indicator of poor development of the baby, he is simply accumulating knowledge. Each child develops skills individually. Some at this age are already walking, while others are just getting up. Many young parents are interested in proper nutrition and child development at 9 months. After all, such an active and curious baby requires constant attention.

What can a 9 month old baby do?

By nine months, the baby changes dramatically. Mommy no longer sees him as a clumsy fat man. A curious baby always asks to sit on the floor and demands communication. This is a very important period when the child’s body prepares for upright walking. Well, let's monitor the development and nutrition of a child at 9 months, his basic abilities.

By holding on to the support, the baby manages to stand and walk. He can crawl in different directions and climbs to heights on all fours. The child can easily sit up and lie down on his own. Holding onto a support, he can not only stand, but also jump. The baby can stand holding the parents' hand. He easily repeats the movements of adults: raising and lowering his arms, clapping his hands. What can a 9 month old baby do? By this age, he has developed many sensory, intellectual and social knowledge:

  1. Sensory-motor dexterity. If a child at this age is given a toy, he calmly picks it up. Can slowly bring it closer to itself and examine it. He manages to pick up small objects with one hand. Often plays with two toys at once. While crawling, he is able to hold an additional object in his hand. The baby claps his hands perfectly. Able to crawl backwards.
  2. Intellectual abilities. The 9-month-old baby loves interesting games where you need to repeat simple actions several times. He easily remembers the game he learned the day before. I especially like hiding behind my palms in the game “Where are you?” He is happy to show with his hands how big he is. The baby can fulfill simple requests: nod his head, wave his hand. The child easily repeats simple words after his parents: give, am, mom, dad. Often the baby develops a fear of space and heights.
  3. Social skills. A 9-month-old baby is very attached to his parents and loves to play next to them. He manages to copy the emotions and gestures of other people. He reacts to laughter with a smile, to crying with tears. Baby no longer plays with all the toys in a row; he chooses them carefully. At the request of the parents, he may sneeze or laugh. Sometimes the baby himself takes the initiative to start a new game. If mommy asks him to repeat something, he will do it with pleasure.

Features of mental development

The 9-month-old miracle is constantly exploring space. He is interested in everything: how doors open and close, why the furniture stands still. A lot of new things are emerging in the mental development and nutrition of a 9-month-old child. During a conversation, the baby changes his intonation and reacts to his name. If you call him, he immediately turns around with a smile on his face. Emotions at this age gain certainty. The baby expresses joy, resentment, anger, malice.

It is very interesting to watch how a child points his finger at the objects he needs and asks him to get them. Often he wants to climb into a cabinet or refrigerator. Pockets are his favorite place to find something. He can show agreement and denial by nodding his head. Dressing a 9-month-old baby is becoming increasingly easier: he puts his arms into the sleeves, guides his leg into his trouser leg, and takes off his hat. The child determines where the adults are by their voice or rustling sound. He still doesn’t know how to handle toys correctly; he throws or knocks them.

Speech abilities of a 9-month-old baby

At 9 months, upon hearing his name, the baby can not only turn around, but also crawl. If you ask him the question “Where is he (or that)?”, he immediately looks for the right person or object with his eyes. He can already, at the request of an adult, choose the right toy among several others. When asked to hand over an item, he hands it to his mother. A 9-month-old child responds well to the words stop, don’t, give, here, get up, lie down. The baby has developed knowledge of many objects: bottles, cups, spoons, combs. The baby is already listening carefully to the conversations of adults, watching their lips.

At this age, the child begins to actively reproduce various speech sounds. These can be individual syllables or imitated sounds. The baby may sneeze, snort, hum, meow, or bark on purpose. One pleasure for him is babbling or muttering.

Weight and height of a nine-month-old baby

A lot of attention is paid to the development and nutrition of a child at 9 months, because his motor activity increases. Due to this, weight gain decreases. The baby gains only 300-500 g per month and grows by 1-2 cm. What is the weight of a child at 9 months? Much also depends on the gender of the baby. At this age, boys weigh from 7.9 kg to 10.5 kg. Girls weigh from 7.5 kg to 9.7 kg.

Many are interested not only in the baby’s weight at 9 months, but also in the increase in size. Boys at this age range from 67.5 to 76.5 cm in height. Girls stretch from 65.3 to 75 cm.

Feeding the baby

Breast milk still remains in the diet of a 9-month-old baby. But this is no longer the main element of the diet. It is worth accustoming your baby to new foods and dishes. What is the diet of a child at 9 months? Every day it should include milk porridge, pureed vegetables, meat, boiled yolk, and cottage cheese. Fruit purees and juices will be an excellent addition to your diet. Instead of mother's milk, you can use a highly adapted milk formula.

During this period, many people practice minced meatballs. The curd is diluted a little with kefir. Wheat and oatmeal are suitable for porridges. Semolina porridge is still difficult for the baby's stomach to digest; it is better to wait up to a year. Since the baby can already eat from a spoon, you can practice soup for a 9-month-old child. It's worth experimenting with new flavors and products. The main thing is to observe the composition and consistency of the dishes. At this age, the baby should be given not ordinary soup, but a puree soup made from steamed or boiled ingredients. Here is the recipe for the simplest puree soup:

  • potatoes, cabbage, carrots:
  • a little greenery, finely chopped;
  • small bay leaf;
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter or vegetable oil;
  • a little salt.

In addition to the above vegetables, you can use cauliflower, broccoli, green peas, pumpkin, and zucchini. It is better to use filtered water to prepare soup. After the vegetables are boiled, they are crushed in a blender to a puree consistency. You can add meatballs, cereals, and small pasta to this soup.

Porridge plays an important place in a baby's diet. Barley, rice, and buckwheat are first boiled in water. After the cereal is cooked, it is passed through a strainer. After this, add milk to the mixture and bring to a boil.

Gradually introduce fish into the diet of a 9-month-old child. It is better to use low-fat varieties: hake, cod, pollock, pike perch.

What fruits can you feed?

Fragrant and sweet berries and fruits are not just a treat for kids. It is a supplier of all kinds of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The very first fruit that children are allowed to eat is an apple. They are often fed to children from 5-6 months. What fruits can be given to a 9-month-old child, besides apples? At this age, chopped raisins, dates, bananas, and pears are suitable. You can make a mix of several fruits, for example, a pear or an apple with a banana.

Don't forget about berries. You don't know what to give your 9 month old baby? At this age, crushed currants, raspberries, blueberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, and gooseberries are permissible. The main thing is to offer your little one just a little bit of new food the first time.

Baby's daily routine

At 9 months of age, babies themselves can influence their wakefulness and sleep patterns. The fact is that they are already beginning to recognize the difference between night and day time. They begin to enjoy playing during the day more and more. But the basic rules still remain: 2 naps during the day, 2 hours each, night sleep up to 11 hours. One of the daytime naps is better in the fresh air.

It is important to remember the air temperature in the children's room. It should be at +20 °C. Don't forget to ventilate the room regularly. Regular daily walks with your baby should become the norm. The duration of walks, in general, should be up to 3 hours.

Bathing for the baby already becomes a pleasure; it can be done every other day. The baby already loves to splash, dive and swim. Get your child used to wearing pajamas and socks at night because he may open up at night. Don't forget to sing him lullabies at night.

Gymnastics for children 9 months

It is very important for a 9-month-old toddler to do gymnastics and give him a massage. The combination of gymnastics and massage should include the following exercises:

  • swing your arms in a circle;
  • bending and straightening the legs together and alternately;
  • light massage movements on the back;
  • stimulation of crawling;
  • abdominal massage;
  • squats;
  • sliding steps.

Each exercise should be done daily 5-7 times for 10 minutes.

The importance of games for development

At this age, communication in games is very important for a child. Provide your baby with the necessary number of toys and items for his favorite activity. Toddlers often tell themselves what games they want to play. Let the baby start the game himself, this way he will learn to be independent. Get your child used to educational toys. At this age, you can already learn to build a pyramid or tower from cubes.

Diagnosis of baby development

If you decide to check how developed your 9-month-old baby is, use the following test:

  1. Is he sitting without support, trying to get up, crawling after toys, holding a cup in both hands?
  2. When sitting, does he turn around and pick up objects from the side or behind?
  3. Repeats your gestures and actions, performs some of your simple tasks?
  4. When you try to take a toy from him, does it prevent you from doing so?
  5. Babbling repeated syllables?
  6. Reacts to his name, distinguishes between friends and strangers?

If the answer to all these questions is positive, then everything is fine with your baby’s development.

Make every effort not only for the physical, but also the mental development of your 9-month-old baby. Continue to hold him in your arms and show him your love. Talk to your little one, develop his speech. To do this, show him books with pictures, read poems and nursery rhymes with repeated words. Ask your child to point something in the picture with his finger. Try to teach him to crawl. It is also important to introduce the child to a spoon, a cup and fall asleep without motion sickness.

A nine-month-old baby is an active, inquisitive child who cannot be confined to a playpen. In trying to get the item he likes, the baby shows miracles of ingenuity and intelligence. He does not yet perceive the word “no” and is offended if his parents do not give him some thing. Therefore, it’s time to inspect the apartment and remove all traumatic objects.

Height and weight

For the first six months, children grow literally by the hour, adding 2–3 cm in height and 700–900 g in weight every month. After the ninth month, the pace begins to slow down to 1.5 cm and 500 g per month, and the general physical characteristics of the child are within the following limits:

Daily regime

DREAM. Increased physical activity during the day “squeezes” all the strength out of the baby, so he still needs good, long sleep. This is 10 hours at night and 2 hours during the day: after breakfast and after lunch. However, some active children already at 9 months switch to one daytime nap, compensating for the second with a longer night nap - up to 12 hours. You need to teach your baby to go to bed at the same time, otherwise it will be difficult for him to fall asleep.

NUTRITION. Although the baby’s menu has become very diverse due to complementary feeding, it is too early to give up breast milk, because it accounts for three out of five feedings: in the morning, at lunch and before bed. For a bottle-fed baby, you can gradually reduce the volume of formula by giving porridge (buckwheat, oatmeal, rice) and vegetable purees instead. It is recommended to mash vegetables and boiled meat into small pieces to stimulate the chewing reflex in the baby. You can diversify your diet with fruits (apples, pears, bananas), cheese and baby kefir. When giving a new product, you need to monitor the baby’s reaction, recording any changes in his condition in the complementary feeding diary.

Digestive disorders are characterized by changes in stool. For constipation, it is recommended to give the baby pumpkin, peaches and plums, naturally without the peel. The norm is once daily stool, and the number of urinations can vary from 7 to 10 times a day, depending on drinking and temperature conditions. It has been noticed that on hot days the frequency of urination decreases.

BATHING. Water procedures become one of the methods of child development at 9 months, since he perceives bathing as a game, repeating the movements of adults, trying to rub himself with a washcloth and reacting emotionally to splashes. Children's foam in the bath and soap bubbles cause enormous delight in the baby. Doctors recommend visiting the pool with your baby at least once a week, since such activities stimulate muscle development, form proper breathing and have a beneficial effect on the child’s mental state.

Achievements of the ninth month

By the ninth month, all children try to move actively, regardless of their body weight. Of course, individuality plays a role, and there may be a slight delay in the development of individual skills. So, what should a child be able to do at 9 months?

Physical skills Mental development
  • can independently change position: sit, lie down, stand up and stand, holding onto a support;
  • actively crawls (even on steps) and reaches for various objects;
  • easily holds toys and tastes new things;
  • turns the body in any direction;
  • clapping hands;
  • can squat and jump in a walker;
  • follows moving objects for a long time;
  • fine motor skills develop: holds things with several fingers, squeezes objects in his hands, tears paper, tries to insert his fingers into different holes, pulls things out of cans and boxes, eats with his fingers, takes off his cap or hat;
  • puts his hands into the sleeves when his parents dress him;
  • looks for a fallen object and finds it
  • actively babbles and draws out vowels;
  • repeats the same syllables: “ma-ma”, “ba-ba”, “bi-bi”, “pa-pa”, “de-de”, etc.;
  • distinguishes oneself from others in the mirror;
  • shows body parts on dolls: nose, eyes, mouth;
  • repeats the intonation of adults, imitates voices;
  • knows his name and responds to it;
  • shows different emotions: fun, joy, fear, despondency, anger;
  • laughs and smiles often;
  • worries when seeing “strangers” and calms down when seeing “our own”;
  • enjoys playing games and remembers them easily;
  • demands attention and cries if adults do not respond;
  • gets angry if a toy is taken away from him;
  • understands when he is scolded and cries;
  • masters adult gestures;
  • tries to eat on his own;
  • knows the location of the rooms in the apartment and their functionality: sleeping, bathing, eating

The main difference between the ninth month is the baby’s ability to control his actions, consciously control his body, and move quickly and energetically.

Dangerous pathological signs are lethargy, weakness and apathy. However, there are also overexcited children who are almost impossible to calm down, which also becomes a reason to go to the doctor. Parents should be alert if their child:

  1. does not distinguish between strangers and relatives;
  2. does not react to his name and does not show emotions to others;
  3. aggressively pushes away parents' hands and turns away his face;
  4. moves little and is not interested in new toys;
  5. has poor balance when sitting;
  6. cannot roll over onto his tummy and does not try to crawl.

Carefully! Active child!

At 9 months, children still cannot walk, but they are already making the house “shake up.” The ability to crawl allows the baby not only to conquer new heights by climbing on chairs and pillows, but also to open cabinets and get different objects. Fine motor skills are developed quite well, but the strength in the hands may not be enough, and therefore the beautiful vase taken will easily break. With this in mind, parents need to take precautions.

  1. It is necessary to remove any small objects from reach: buttons, beads, coins, candies, etc. The baby may put them in his mouth and choke.
  2. Close all lower cabinets or remove sharp, fragile and traumatic things from there: dishes, tools, knitting needles, sewing kit, etc. Instead, you can put towels, clothes or soft toys, because the baby likes to tinker with new things.
  3. It is better to lay oilcloth on the kitchen table rather than a tablecloth, since the baby can very easily pull on it.
  4. Sockets must be closed with special plugs.
  5. You need to hide all the documents and money, because the baby is already good at tearing paper.

To make the space around your child as safe as possible, you need to imagine yourself in his place: where would you like to climb, what to get and what to see? By predicting the actions of an active baby, you can easily remove all interesting but prohibited items from sight. In general, during the day the child happily plays with a bunch of his toys and watches the adults. Therefore, you can increase the time of daytime walks and begin to develop your child using play techniques.

Favorite games and toys

The main fun of the ninth month is throwing toys and hitting them against each other, especially if they are rattles that make different sounds. Of interest are boxes, jars and boxes from which smaller objects can be taken out. Therefore, when choosing toys, it is better to give preference to large pyramids, nesting dolls, rattles, balls, figures with cut holes, objects with strings, Velcro and “talking” dolls. And the house with the tunnel will cause the greatest delight. You can buy it or make it from cardboard boxes.

As for the games, “Pu-ku” and “Ladushki” remain in first place. Your baby also likes to watch things crumble, so if you build him a tower of blocks, he will happily break it. You can hide a toy from your child by putting it behind your back or covering it with a scarf, because such an action will cause an active search. If someone plays with the child while he is awake: mom, dad, grandmother, older sister, then he will learn about the world faster. After all, attention from adults stimulates the active development of a 9-month-old baby.
