We sew a children's robe. Is it difficult to sew a dressing gown for a child? Children's bathrobe - simple DIY patterns

It’s so nice to sew something new for your child with your own hands. For example, such a necessary thing after swimming as a robe with a hood.

Sewing such a robe for a boy yourself is not difficult. We'll tell you how to make a pattern that will help you make a cute piece for your baby's wardrobe.

Measurements required for the pattern

First you need to remove everything necessary measures.

  • Neck circumference (NC).
  • Shoulder length (HL).
  • Back length to waist (BW).
  • Front length to waist (accident).
  • Product back length (DI).
  • Armhole depth (HD).
  • Armhole width (W).
  • Hip circumference (H).
  • Sleeve length (SL).
  • Circumference height of head.

The quality of your work and the convenience of new clothes for your child will depend on the accuracy of the data in the future.

How to make a pattern

Let's consider the stages of completing the drawing required for cutting a children's robe.

Base for back and shelf

Reference: The construction of the back and front is done in the same way at first, so you can draw the patterns for the front and back at once.

  • On paper measure DI along the edge and put points A and B. You need to measure so that from the top edge of the paper to A there was at least 5-10 cm.
  • Divide the OB measurement by 4, then to the result add 2 cm.
  • The resulting number measure on paper from A and B perpendicular to the edge.
  • We draw lines and put points B and D, respectively, the segments AB and BG will be obtained.
  • We connect along the line B and D. It should be a rectangle.
  • Add 0.5 cm to the DTS measurement and the resulting value put on segment AB from A. Here we put point T1.
  • The GP measure, having previously added 2 cm to it, must also be measured on the segment AB from A. This will be G1.
  • From G1 and T1 draw lines perpendicular to segment AB to the VG segment and, accordingly, set G2 and T2.
  • Then take measurements We divide the ShP by 2 and postpone the resulting result from G2 to G1G2 and call point G3.
  • Next from G3 draw a line parallel to segment A to AB B. We call the connection point the letter P.
  • Divide the resulting segment G3P in half and place point P1.
  • Connect P1 to G2 with a smooth concave line.

Building the back

  • To build the back neck we need OSH measure. We divide this measurement by 6 and then add 1 to the resulting number.

Important! Remember the obtained value, it will be useful to us when constructing the front neckline.

  • We put the resulting value from A to AB and call it Ш1.
  • From Ш1 perpendicular to line AB we measure 1-2 cm and put point Ш2.

Important! The size of the perpendicular depends on the child for whom the robe is sewn. The smaller the boy, the shorter this line.

  • Section Ш1Ш2 should not be inside the constructed rectangle ABCD, but from the outside.
  • Using a smooth concave arc we connect Ш2 to A.
  • From P on segment PG3 we measure 1.5 cm and put P2.
  • From Ш2 we draw a straight line through P2.
  • Then add 3 cm to the DP measurements and the resulting value measure on line Ш2П2, starting from Ш2.
  • We call the resulting point P3. P3 should be located after P2. We connect P3 to P1 with a smooth concave arc.

Building a shelf

  • From T1 to A we set aside the road accident measure, after adding 0.5 to it cm and call point Ш3.
  • If you measured everything correctly, then Ш3 will be located above A outside the rectangle ABCD.
  • Further from Ш3 we draw a parallel AB line.
  • On this line we lay out the segment Ш3Ш4, equal to АШ1(back pattern).
  • From Ш3 down past A we measure 6 cm and put point Ш5.
  • We connect Ш5 with Ш4 with a smooth curved arc.
  • We draw a line further towards Ш4 along the segment Ш3Ш4. We also draw a line upward along the segment G3P. Lines must cross. We call the intersection point P4.
  • From P4 down P4G3 we set aside 3.5 cm - it turns out P5.
  • We connect Sh4 and P5 along a ruler and continue further from P5.
  • On this line from Ш4 we lay a segment equal to Ш2П2 (back pattern) and put point P6.
  • We connect P1 and P6 with a smooth curved arc.

Construction of the sleeve

  • Add 3-4 cm to the OP measurement for a loose fit.
  • Received value put it down on paper, calling the segment P1P2.
  • From P1 and P2 draw parallel lines down, equal to the DR measure. Name the segments P1H1 and P2H2. The result will be a rectangle Р1Р2Н2Н1.
  • Р1Р2 and Н1Н2 divide in half and connect the division points together, calling them O1 and O2. You should get a segment O1O2 parallel to P1H1 and P2H2.
  • From O1 down to O2 measure the height of the sleeve cap - O3. We take this measurement from the back and front patterns. On the back, you need to measure the distance from P3 to the line G1G2, parallel to the segment PG3. And on the front, the distance P5 to the line G1G3, also parallel to the segment PG3.
  • We add the resulting measurements together and then divide them in half.. The resulting value will be the height of the sleeve edge.
  • From O3 we draw a line parallel to the segment P1P2 to the right and left until it intersects with P1H1 and P2H2 - O4O5.
  • We connect O1 with O4 and O5. Divide O1O4 in half - O6.
  • From O6 towards P1 we set aside 1 cm and through this point we draw a curved arc from O1 to O4.
  • Divide O1O5 into 4 equal parts and set aside 1 cm up from the first division point and 0.5 cm down from the third division point.
  • Connect O1 to O5 through these points with a smooth convex-concave arc, intersecting the straight line O1O5 through the second point.

Construction of the hood

The hood pattern is based on head circumference + an increase of 4–8 cm and head height + an increase of 3–5 cm.

  • Need to build a rectangle by these standards. In it, head circumference + increase will be horizontal lines, and head height + increase will be vertical lines.
  • In the back right corner you need to put 2 cm down, in the bottom left corner up - 4 cm.
  • Connect the resulting points with a smooth curved arc, touching the top and left sides of the rectangle.
  • Measure the length of the necks on the front and back patterns, fold them and add 1 cm.
  • Place the resulting value from a point on the left side of the rectangle, raised by 4 cm, to the bottom line of the rectangle.
  • Connect these dots together.
  • Also connect the newly obtained intersection points on the bottom side with the right side.

The pattern is ready! Have fun sewing your boy's robe!

Today I’ll show you how to sew a children’s warm terry robe with a hood and set-in sleeves. Sewing is quick and easy. For a robe for a height of 134-140 cm, it took me exactly 1.5 m of fabric with a width of 150 cm. Terry fabric, 100% cotton, color: salad. I will sew the robe on an overlocker and a little on a sewing machine. If you don’t have an overlocker, you can sew on a sewing machine using an overlock foot or special stitches.

We secure the trim piece with a stitch, departing 2 cm from the bottom cut, where it is marked with a dotted line.

Cut off the excess as noted in the photo below.

Then we overlock the bottom edge of the robe (hem). We bend the hem to the wrong side, straighten the corner, bend the bottom edge by 2 cm and make a straight line where it is marked with clips.

Iron the lining and trim of the hood. We place a finishing stitch along the edge of the lining and facing of the hood, securing them.

We also sew the cut of the sleeve on an overlocker, bend it (adjusting the length of the sleeve) and lay a straight line.

Let's move on to the detail of the belt.

We bend the belt lengthwise and stitch it down, leaving room for turning it inside out. Turn it right side out.

Sew up the hole and iron it.

From the remaining fabric we cut strips for belt loops of the required size. I have 2 strips 4x14 cm. We overcast the strips on all sides, bend them on both sides and lay a straight stitch along the entire length. On the side seam of the robe we mark the places for the belt loops.

Having folded the edges, we sew on the belt loops, laying the lines where it is marked with a dotted line.

Let's move on to the pockets. We cut out the parts for the pockets of the required size. I have 2 pieces measuring 25x18 cm. We also sew the edges using an overlocker.

Fold the top edge of the pocket to the wrong side and sew a straight line where it is marked with a dotted line.

We mark a place for the pocket. Place the pocket, folding the edges and sew a straight line where marked with a dotted line. We put fasteners for security.

The children's warm terry robe is ready.

This is how it looks on my eldest daughter. Veronica is 8 years old, height 133 cm. I took the pattern a little to allow for a height of 140 cm.

In schools, labor education classes are increasingly requiring special clothing - a lab coat. And the requirement of teachers “to be sure to wear a robe or apron for the next lesson” is far from their whim, but the official requirement of SanPin (clause 4.2.2821-10), according to which “Students perform all work in workshops and home economics classrooms in special clothing - a robe, an apron, a beret or a headscarf.”

Such clothing should protect against contamination school uniform and ensure the safety of the schoolchild, so the robe should not hinder the child’s movements, and the sleeves should not dangle, like Pierrot’s from the well-known “Golden Key”. It is also very important that it is made from natural fabrics and is easy to wash. The question remains: should you sew a school robe yourself or buy it in a store?

The desire to save money forces many to sew a robe for a schoolchild themselves. But is this method really cheaper than buying a ready-made one? Let's figure it out!

We sew a robe for labor with our own hands

What is needed?

Firstly, good cutting and sewing skills. Even if a novice seamstress can handle an apron for work, experience will be required. Secondly, a sewing machine and a special foot for sewing buttonholes. Thirdly, material or money for its purchase (fabric, accessories, threads, needles, tracing paper or paper, centimeter, pencil, chalk). And, of course, the most valuable thing is free time.

We will sew a classic work robe for boys - blue, from thick diagonal cotton fabric with a density of 210 g/m2, with two pockets, set-in sleeves with cuffs with buttons, a turn-down collar and a tab for waist adjustment.

Instructions on how to sew a lab coat yourself

Step 1. Take measurements.

Step 2. Count the fabric consumption.

Step 3. Prepare equipment and materials.

Step 4. We purchase fabric, accessories, equipment and consumables.

Step 5. Make a drawing and pattern.

Step 6. Cutting out.

Step 7. Let's start sewing.

Step 8. Sew on the fittings.

Step 1. Take measurements

Armed with a measuring tape and a pencil, you need to take the following measurements:

  • Child's growth (see Fig. “a”)
  • Length from shoulder to knee (product length)
  • Chest circumference, size “G” (see Fig. “b”),
  • Hip circumference, size “B” (see Fig. “c”)
  • Back width (see Fig. “d”)
  • Sleeve length

If your boy is of average build and height, then you can use ready-made size charts, but then there is no guarantee that the robe will fit well.

How to take measurements is clearly shown in the figure below.

To determine the sleeve length (“P”), measure the child’s arm from shoulder to phalanx thumb. You also need a separate value called “Width” (“W”), to determine it you need to divide the “hip circumference” value by 2. And the value “Product Length” (“L”), which is equal to the length from the shoulder to the middle of the knee or a little lower. According to GOST requirements, the product must reach the knee.

Step 2. Calculate fabric consumption

For an average schoolchild of 12 years old, 158-164 cm tall and of average build, you will need to buy 2.5 meters of fabric, 80 cm wide. As well as 7-9 buttons. Accordingly, for taller or larger boys, about 3 meters of fabric will be required. There are no ready-made tables for the consumption of fabric for children's work robes yet, but on the Internet you can find ready-made tables for the costs of work smocks from sizes 44-46.

Step 3. Prepare equipment and materials

To sew the product, you will need a sewing machine equipped with a regular foot and a buttonhole foot. And also with a needle that can sew through thick fabric, otherwise there will be problems - a thin needle can get stuck, skip stitches or simply break. For cuffs, it is advisable to use a double needle, so it will be good if one is available.

In addition to the equipment, to sew a school robe for labor with your own hands you will need:

  • Fabric, diagonal, density from 200 g/m2, 100% cotton, dark blue or black.
  • Accessories.
  • Consumables (needles, threads).
  • Tracing paper, chalk and pins for constructing and attaching a pattern to the fabric.
  • Scissors.

Step 4. We purchase materials

If every housewife has scissors, then tracing paper and especially a spare required fabric Not everyone has it, so all the missing materials need to be purchased. You can buy fabric, buttons and other materials at a specialized handicraft store.

To sew a school robe yourself, it is better to use 100% cotton fabrics; a product made from them will be lightweight, will not take up much space in your backpack, will allow the skin to breathe and will be easy to wash. It is advisable to choose blue or black fabric so that the product gets less dirty during use. Since we are sewing a blue robe, we opt for a dark blue Diagonal with a density of 210 g/m2 and a width of at least 80-85 cm.

To help you calculate your budget, here are some prices in Moscow for 2017.

  1. Fabric “Diagonal”, size 210-220 g/m2 - 220 rubles/1 meter (for a boy 12-13 years old you will need approximately 2.5-3 meters of fabric). The width of the roll, which is very important, should not be less than 80 cm. The cost of the fabric also depends on the country of origin and density. Calico calico according to GOST with a density of 140 g/m2 is also suitable - 200 rubles/1 meter, but the product in this case will turn out to be a little thinner than one sewn from diagonal.
  2. Accessories, black buttons - 100 RUR/9 pcs. (4-5 for the robe itself, 2 for the cuffs and 1-2 for the strap).
  3. Strong dark blue threads - 60 RUR.
  4. Needles - about 100 rubles/10 pcs. You will need one or two of medium thickness, but needles are not sold one at a time. Of course, you can most likely find a suitable needle at home.
  5. Tracing paper - about 80 rubles.

Step 5. Making a drawing

Having purchased the fabric and all the necessary accessories, you can begin to build a drawing

A pattern for a work robe, like other patterns, is created on tracing paper or other special paper. A sample drawing is presented below this text (see Fig. 1). After construction, cut out the pattern, sign every detail and measurement, and fasten it so as not to lose it.

Pattern of a school robe for labor

The sleeves on the children's work robe are set-in and long. When making a pattern for this part, we match the shoulder seams of the fronts and mark the chest line and the center of the armhole on a separate piece of tracing paper. Then we re-cut the armhole sections. You need to remember an important thing: the edge must be equal to the perimeter of the armhole of the base.

Along the chest line, measure the upper part of the arm +5.5 cm, while shifting the center two cm towards the back. Draw the edge of the sleeve, passing 1.5 cm above the upper marked lines. Slowly and smoothly draws a pencil along the armhole sections to the center along the back and front, rounding to the base at the chest line. Then we measure the length of the sleeve and measure the wrist +5.5 cm. We draw the sections of the sleeve.

Sleeve pattern

Step 6. Let's start cutting

To sew a work robe, a pattern from tracing paper is applied to the fabric and traced with chalk. Typically, natural fabrics are overlocked, but you can simply turn the seams under. We also make seam allowances for the finished drawing; in the case of overlock processing, it is enough to add 0.7 cm; in the case of hems, 1.5 cm is needed; and to process the cuts at the bottom, we make an allowance of 5 cm. Then we carefully cut out all the parts.

You need to cut:

  • 1 back piece measuring W*L.
  • 1 part of the right shelf, adding 8 cm to 1/3 of the width.
  • 1 piece of the left shelf, adding 8 cm to 2/3 of the width.
  • 2 sleeve parts corresponding to the length of the arm, with a width of 30 cm.
  • 2 rectangular pocket pieces (depending on the size of the robe).
  • 2 cuff parts 16*6 cm.
  • 1 collar piece 40*6 cm.
  • 1 piece of belt-strap 13*120 cm.

Step 7. Let's start sewing

Sew the main part and sleeves

To sew a work robe yourself, you need to place the details of the shelves on the back part, aligning the edges of the cut. Using a 1 cm allowance, we sew the shoulder seams. Fold the sleeve piece in half and apply the middle part to the shoulder seam. We attach, making a seam 1 cm wide. We iron the allowances to the sleeve and lay a decorative stitch on the front side. Then we sew from the bottom of the sleeve to the armpits, and move on to side seams, connecting parts of the product.

Making cuffs

Let's start sewing the cuffs. The lower edge of the sleeve must be gathered, reducing the width to 16 cm. We fold the cuff parts in half lengthwise, and, connecting them to the sleeve, attach them so that 2-3 centimeters remain free.

Sew the collar

Let's start sewing the collar, which is a rather complex process that will be carried out in two stages. We apply the collar with the front side to the wrong side of the robe and sew it. Having turned the seam up, bend the collar along its length and sew from the wrong side, not forgetting to make a small hem.

Making pockets

Place 2 pockets just above hip level. We make pockets rectangular shape, bending the cuts inward. Then we sew them to the shelves.

We make a strap

Fold the strip of fabric prepared for the belt in half and stitch it. Having unscrewed the resulting “hose”, make a neat stitch on the front side. You can also sew on a button to adjust the waist.

Sew the details

Next, all that remains is to sew a whole work robe from all the parts. First, we connect the shoulder seams of the base and the edgings, then we sew the collar to the neckline and connect the edges with the edgings along the edges. Next, we connect the school robe along the side seams and process the sections. We turn up the bottom of the sleeves and hem and adjust it. We sew a tab into the side seams.

Sew on buttons

To make a fastener, the edges of the shelves need to be folded 3-4 cm and stitched from the inside out. Mark the location for the buttons and loops at equal distances from each other. The first loop and button should be located at the beginning of the turn-down collar. We make slits for the buttonholes and sew them on the machine, having previously changed the presser foot. Then we sew on the buttons. The same is done with the cuffs.

That's all - your DIY labor robe is ready! Now you know how to sew a work robe yourself.

Is it really economical?

For a boy 12-13 years old, fabric worth about 550 rubles will be required. Accessories, threads and consumables worth about 200 rubles. It’s good to have a sewing machine at home, equipped with a set of special feet. Otherwise, you will have to buy a buttonhole foot, which costs about 250 rubles more. And this does not take into account the purchase of tracing paper and crayons.

As for time costs, for non-professionals it will take at least two hours just to take measurements and cut, and you also need to find fabric, purchase and sew the product itself - this can take more than one day.

In total, to sew a school robe yourself, you will have to spend at least 800 rubles on fabric and the necessary accessories. And if you add the time spent here, the product will turn out “golden”.

Of course, you can save on all points, for example on fabric, and buy thin chintz instead of a thick diagonal, but then the robe will be less wear-resistant and may lose its appearance after the first wash.

Is the game worth the candle? Conclusions.

So is it worth sewing a work robe yourself or not? It’s worth sewing a work robe yourself only if you want to make some exclusive model, you have all the materials for sewing in your house, or you just LOVE to sew. But, if you are driven only by the desire to save money, think several times whether it is worth it, since you will not feel significant savings. And drawing up patterns, cutting, purchasing materials and sewing the product requires a lot of your free time, not to mention the fact that there will also be cash expenses.

Charming terry robe with hood - perfect home clothes not only for adults, but also for children. Girls will be happy to wear such a robe at home, because it is soft, warm and very comfortable. And sewn by mother’s caring hands, such a robe will become your child’s favorite one. By the way, using our pattern you can sew a robe for a boy.

Terry, also known as “frote fabric”, is perfect for sewing such a model. natural material, which is made from cotton, bamboo or linen. Its characteristic feature is a fluffy fleecy surface formed by many loops.

It is very easy to create a robe pattern, however, first you need to take measurements. We recommend sewing a robe using a closed seam. To create the pattern, we use the length of the robe along the back - about 65 cm.

Creating a drawing grid

Since the silhouette of the robe is very loose, we build the width of the mesh according to the measurement of the hip circumference. Draw a rectangle ABCD with width AB = 41.5 cm (half hip circumference according to measurement + 8 cm for loose fit): 67/2 + 8 = 41.5 cm and length AD = 65 cm (length of robe according to measurement).

Armhole depth of the robe. AG = 16.5 cm (Armhole depth according to measurement + 2 cm increase in freedom of fit). How to measure the depth of the armhole is described in detail in the article. From point G, draw a horizontal line for the armhole GG1.

Waist line of the robe. AT = 29.5 cm (Back length to waist according to measurement + 0.5 cm for all sizes): 29 + 0.5 = 29.5 cm. Draw a horizontal waist line TT1.

Side line. Divide segment GG1 in half and draw down from the division point G2 vertical line sides G2N.

Constructing a pattern for the back of a children's robe

Back neck. From point A, set aside 6 cm to the right (1/6 of the neck circumference + 1 cm for all sizes): 30/6+1=6 cm. From point 6 up, set aside 1.5 cm and draw a concave line for the back neckline along the pattern.

Armhole width. Armhole width according to measurement = 9 cm. From point G2 to the left and right, set aside 4.5 cm (½ Armhole width according to measurement). Points G3 and G4 were obtained. From point G3, lift up the perpendicular - point P.

Back shoulder line. From point P downwards, set aside 1.5 cm and draw a shoulder line 12 cm long (shoulder length according to measurement + 3 cm for all sizes): 9+3=12 cm.

Back armhole line. Divide PG3 in half. Draw the back armhole line as shown in Fig. 1.

Constructing a pattern for the front of a children's robe

From point T1 up, set aside 31.5 cm (accident by measurement + 0.5 cm for all sizes): 31 + 0.5 = 31.5 cm – point W. Draw a horizontal line from point W to the left. From point G4, lift up a vertical line until it intersects with a horizontal line drawn from point W. At the intersection of the lines, point P1 is obtained.

Front neck line. From point W, set aside 6 cm to the left (1/6 Neck circumference as measured + 1 cm for all sizes): 30/6 + 1 = 6 cm, and down – 6.5 cm (1/6 Neck circumference as measured + 1, 5 cm for all sizes): 30/6 + 1.5 = 6.5 cm. Using the pattern, draw the neckline of the front of the robe. Contrasting detail for facing the front (shown on the pattern pink) is cut out 8 cm wide on the bias, folded in half and stitched to the robe.

Front shoulder line. From point P1, set down 3.5 cm and draw a front shoulder line 12 cm long.

Front armhole line. Draw the front armhole line along the pattern as shown in the drawing.

Additionally, create a pocket pattern. The width, length and location of the pocket on the product can be adjusted depending on the size of the product.

Construction of a robe sleeve pattern

Measure the length of the armhole of the back and front according to the robe pattern. Use the obtained value to calculate the Height of the collar: OO1 = 1/6 of the half-circumference of the chest according to the measurement + 2 cm): 30.5/6 + 2 = 7 cm and the Length of the auxiliary line of the collar OP = OP1 = 1/2 Length of the armhole according to the pattern + 1 cm.

From point O downwards, set aside the calculated Height of the rim: ОО1 = 7 cm. From point O to the left and right, set aside the calculated values of OP and OP1. Divide segment OP in half and set aside 1.5 cm upward from the division point. Divide segment OP1 into 3 equal parts and set aside 1 cm upward from the first division point and 0.5 cm down from the third division point. Draw the edge of the sleeve along the pattern.

From point O downwards, set aside the length of the sleeve according to the measurement minus 8 cm.

To make this type of clothing, take a piece natural fabric 150 cm wide and 300 cm long. Before you start sewing, you need to wash the cotton fabric. This is important because it shrinks after washing. By doing this in advance, you can be sure that the dimensions will be kept exactly. A master class on kimono sewing is described below.

The cutting is done in accordance with the given drawing.

Yukata kimono pattern

The fabric should be spread on the floor and the necessary lines should be made with chalk or a piece of soap. The length of the belt should be three times the length of your waist.

Sewing occurs as follows:

  1. First, the sleeves are processed. These parts are folded in half. The sleeves are short. The fold of the fabric is located at the top. Since the opening is wide, the sleeve is sewn up from the bottom and outside. A 15 cm hole is left for the arms. The hemmed lower part of the sleeve is used as a small pocket for small items.
  2. The smell is attached to the front, starting from bottom edge. It should be taken into account that the top edge is beveled.
  3. The neckline is being stitched.
  4. Now all that remains is to fold the parts in the waist part in half and place the front part inward.

The finished kimono must be carefully folded and ironed. The pattern for creating a men's robe of this type is done in a completely similar way.

The dimensions should be as follows. The length of this solid cut should exceed the woman’s height. The width is required so that the fabric can be wrapped around the body with a smell.

For quick sewing, you need to make cuts for the arms. To determine their location, you need:

  1. Draw a vertical line in the center of a piece of fabric with chalk or a bar of soap.
  2. The height is measured from the bottom of the robe to the bottom of the armpits.
  3. A horizontal line is made at this point; it should correspond to the width of the shoulders.
  4. From the last segment, two vertical segments are laid upward. At this point there will be slits in the fabric for the arms.

After the holes for the arms are made, the part of the fabric that is above the shoulders is folded and falls freely onto the back. Now, in order to wear a robe, you will also need to make a belt. You can look at it before sewing the robe. What this style looks like when you make it for a doll.
