Technology for making a gift bag for Santa Claus

1. Execute the application.

Outline the details of the white fleece applique on the bag detail according to the sketch. Sew decorative braid along the edge of the details (see lesson 1, item 3). Embroider the details of the applique with sequins.

2. Sew the top of the patterned curtain lining to the bottom of the crepe satin lining.

Fold the top of the patterned lining with the bottom of the crepe-satin with the right sides inward, sweep away. Sew the top lining of the bag to the bottom of the lining of the bag. Press the seam allowance down. The seam of the connection of the upper part with the lower part of the lining is 4-5 cm below the drawstring. The patterned lining at the top of the bag gives the bag a beautiful look when turned up. If desired, the lining of the bag can be made in one piece from a homogeneous fabric.

3. Stitch the bag part from the main fabric with the bag lining part along the upper cut.

Fold the details of the lining of the bag and the details of the velor bag along the upper cut with the right sides inward, sweep away. Sew a part of the bag from the main fabric with a part of the lining of the bag along the upper cut with a seam of 0.5-0.7 cm.

4. Sew the middle seam (located at the back center of the part) of the bag.

Fold the bag in half lengthwise with the right side inward (into the tube), sweep. Stitch the middle seam of the bag with a 1 cm seam, while sewing off the middle seam of the lining at the same time. On the section of the bag made of the main fabric at the level of the drawstring, leave the hole for the cord 2-3 cm long unstitched. Press the seam allowance in different directions.

5. Sew the bottom seam of the bag from the base fabric.

Fold together the lower sections of the bag made of the main fabric (fold in such a way that the middle seam (item 4) is in the middle of the back half of the bag) with the front side inward, sweep. Stitch the bottom edge of the base fabric with a 1 cm seam. Press the seam allowance apart in different directions. Fold corners across seams, stitch corners.

6. Place a finishing stitch along the top edge of the bag.

Turn the bag to the right side, placing the lining inside the bag. Sweep piping along the top edge of the bag from the lining side. Place a finishing stitch along the top edge of the bag.

7. Sew two parallel drawstring stitches.

Place temporary stitches on both sides of the drawstring lines, securing the top layer of the lined bag. Sew two parallel stitches along the guide lines of the drawstring.

8. Stitch the bottom seam of the lining bag.

Turn the lining of the bag to the wrong side through the open bottom edge of the lining. Stitch the bottom seam of the bag lining from the corners to the middle, leaving a hole in the middle for turning out. Sew on the corners of the bag lining.

9. Tie-in the turning hole.

Unscrew the lining from the front through the hole left. Fold in the lining hole and stitch 1-2 mm from the inwardly folded edges of the lining parts.

10. Insert the cord into the drawstring.

Insert the decorative cord into the drawstring through the hole in the middle seam. Burn the ends of the decorative cord in order to prevent shattering, tie knots at the ends of the cord.

Master class progress:

Preliminary work: conversation "Soon the New Year holiday and everyone needs Santa Claus. Santa Claus with a bag, and a surprise in the bag"
After the participants are familiarized with the information, they proceed to making Santa Claus's New Year's souvenir. They choose a workplace and prepare the necessary materials and tools.
1. We connect the stand and the bar with a screw, placing the bar in the center of the stand. We put our head on the beam, nail it down.

2. We wind the waste material on the bar and fix it with braid, lace or knitting threads.

3. We put cotton ribbons on the front and back to get a robe .. At the head we fasten with sewing threads. Cut off the excess cotton wool from below according to the growth of Santa Claus. In front of the robe, from the neck to the bottom, we attach another cotton strip, but narrower. And at the bottom of the robe on the hem of the glory to the right we put a cotton strip.

4. We make a belt from cotton wool. We take a cotton tape 4 cm wide and twist the edges in opposite directions.

5. Prepare the head for the hat. Apply a cotton strip from ear to ear (depending on the size of the head). We glue the eyebrows. Prepare a cotton strip for the beard, try it on, fix it with a little glue. We glue the mustache.

6. Put a small layer of cotton wool on the top of the head and cover it with a cotton strip from the forehead to the neck. From left to right, we wrap the head with a cotton strip to get a hat. Cut off the excess length at the back and fix it a little with PVA glue. (At the end of our work, everything will be fixed with starch)

8. We make hands: 2 hands, 2 fingers from a thin cotton strip and 2 sleeves from cotton strips wider than on the wrist. We wrap a wide strip of cotton wool (i.e., a sleeve) around the finished brush, cut off the excess cotton along the length of the arm and make cuffs for the sleeve.

9. Raise the beard and fix the cotton strip - the collar. We cut off the excess.

10. In the hand of Santa Claus we insert a stick - a staff (glazing bead of the required length) we fix it with PVA glue, and at the bottom we nail the staff with a nail to the stand.

11. Ready liquid starch (like a rare jelly). For a glass of cold water - 1 tablespoon of starch without a slide, stir well. Boil 1 glass of water in a separate bowl. Pour the prepared starch mixture into boiling water gradually, stirring with a spoon.
12. Prepare devices (long brush, glazing bead) for covering the product with liquid starch. We wind it on a brush (glazing bead), wind cotton wool, dip it in liquid starch and apply it to all parts of the product with twisting movements. Grind the rain and sprinkle it immediately on the product that has just been treated with the mixture.

13. We leave our Santa Claus to dry in a warm place.
14. Prepare gouache yellow (for the staff) and red (for the cap, mittens, belt). Add a little PVA glue to the paint, mix and paint.

Santa Claus was "born"! We pack, tie and the gift is ready!

Before the New Year holidays, many parents, as well as kindergarten teachers and school teachers ask themselves the urgent question: how to make an outfit for the main New Year's hero with their own hands. You can buy a ready-made carnival costume in a store or order a New Year's dress sewing in an atelier. But this is not always profitable in financial matters, and there is no desire to buy a cheap and low-quality outfit by Morozko or Santa Claus, which is sold in every supermarket. Children are unlikely to believe in such a wizard, and the New Year's fairy tale will be ruined.

Components of the outfit

First, let's figure out what parts the decoration consists of: a fur coat, a hat, mittens, a bag with gifts, a magic staff and a white beard with a mustache. Of course, the main and rather complicated part of the outfit is a fur coat, which must be sewn exclusively according to patterns. By the way, if you are smart, you can use a pattern for a bathrobe with long sleeves or an old coat of the simplest style.

New Year's decoration pattern

Before sewing fur coats and hats for Santa Claus choose a short-pile fabric first... This could be, for example:

To finish a fur coat and hat you will need:

  • white fur;
  • batting;
  • synthetic winterizer that can be replaced with a beautiful white fabric.

Fur coat for the main character

Usually this role is entrusted to men, but women also often have to dress up as a grandfather. The fur coat is worn on clothes, so the size will be approximately 50, 52, 54. And the grandfather of size 46 will seem ridiculous, but he must be omnipotent. This means that a lot of fabric will be needed. First you need to take measurements with a centimeter tape from the one for whom you need to sew a Santa Claus costume. Then you need to carefully study the selected pattern and make sure that it fits in size.

  • a piece of chalk or a remnant of dry soap;
  • ruler and measuring tape;
  • finished, cut out patterns.

Then the fabric should be cut, leaving seam allowances of about two centimeters.

The fur coat is sewn from five parts: two front shelves (right and left), back, collar and belt.

After the parts are cut and cut, you can start connecting the parts. First, you need to sew on the shoulders two front shelves with a back, then sew the side seams on the seamy side. All seams must be machined with a zigzag, overlock or special scissors, so that later the edges of the material do not sprinkle and do not diverge.

Separately, you need to sew the sleeves and process the seams. Then the sleeves need to be sewn into the armholes of the fur coat. The main thing is to do it correctly so that the sleeves fit correctly.

When the main part of the fur coat is ready, it remains to sew the collar cut from white fur or any other fabric. You can also cut and sew a collar out of the same fabric as your fur coat, and then sew on a fur collar.

The last detail of the garment is the belt (sash), it should be wide and long so that it can be doubled around the waist and tied in front. To cut out such a belt, a special pattern is not needed, you can cut out a piece in size, twenty centimeters wide, taking into account seam allowances and three meters long. If you only have short pieces of fabric, and there is no piece of suitable length left, make a sash piece from several pieces and sew them together.

Then the resulting blank of the sash must be folded in length exactly in half, carefully bend the edges inward and sew the entire part on a sewing machine. Your belt is ready, its ends on two edges can be decorated with white faux fur, fringe or fabric.

Christmas hat for Santa Claus

After the fur coat is ready, you can do sewing hats for vesting Santa Claus.

To do this, you need a pattern. Using a measuring tape, take measurements from the person to whom the item is intended. If you are sewing for a child, all measurements must be taken from the baby, for an adult outfit - from an adult.

When the size of the selected pattern is ideal, then it can be transferred to the fabric. It is necessary to transfer to the fabric with the required dimensions.

The hat consists of three parts:

  • top part;
  • band.

After the finished pattern is transferred to the fabric from the seamy side, you need to cut out all the details, not forgetting about the seam allowances. Then you need to sew the upper part of the cap with the bottom. To keep the cap in shape, a band should be sewn from starched cotton fabric or from cardboard, thick paper. At the end of the work, the hat, like the collar of a fur coat, must be decorated with white fur or fabric.

If you are preparing Morozko's magic decoration for a class or kindergarten, a magic stick-staff should be an indispensable attribute of this. A bag of gifts is also needed. Let's see how to sew it.

Frost bag

Sew a bag for Frost's gifts quite simple. To do this, you will need a piece of fabric you like, a sewing machine, a tailor's tape measure and fifteen minutes of free time. Ideally, the Santa Claus gift bag should be sewn from the same fabric as the entire costume. But if there is no similar matter left, the bag can be sewn from any, the main thing is that it matches the color or has universal colors:

  • Red and blue;
  • silver and gold;
  • white and oily.

So, you need to cut out two identical rectangular parts 1 meter long and 80 centimeters wide. Sew both parts on a sewing machine on three sides from the wrong side, process the edges of the seams with a zigzag or overlock.

Tuck the top of the bag inward by five centimeters and sew on a typewriter. In the resulting lapel, you need to insert a braid or tape, with which the bag will be pulled together. Instead, you can cut out a strip of fabric that is seventy centimeters long and ten centimeters wide, tuck in and sew the edges. Then sew it in the middle to one side seam on the front side so that the bag can be tied with this ribbon.

To make all the details of Santa Claus's New Year's decoration look magical and truly fabulous, you need to add to the decoration additional decor... The easiest way is to decorate an outfit with shiny tinsel that you can sew on:

  • along the edges of the fur coat;
  • on the cuffs;
  • on the collar;
  • as the edge of the cap.

You can embroider snowflakes by hand or on a sewing machine with silver, gold or white thread; to sew on the costume shimmering sequins, rhinestones, beads and other decorative elements. You can knit openwork snowflakes and sew them on the fur coat and hat of Santa Claus.

Making a staff

The image of Frost will be incomplete if there is no magic in the hands, fairy staff... It is not at all difficult to make it. It is necessary to take a long club, wooden or plastic, wrap and glue it with foil. And also can be painted with white, silver or gold paint from a spray can.

The top of the magic staff is crowned with a large star. Cut out a large five-pointed star from thick cardboard and glue it with foil or paint it with paint. The edges of the star and the staff can be decorated with shiny tinsel, large beads, rhinestones, snowflakes and any New Year's decor made with your own hands or bought in a store can be glued on them.

You can supplement the magic star with a pair of small bells that will produce an original, fabulous effect from the appearance of Santa Claus at the holiday.

Mittens for Santa Claus

Hands are exactly the element by which children recognize in Grandfather Frost their daddy, teacher or physical education teacher, therefore mittens should be a must carnival costume.

For sewing mittens, you need to choose a fabric, the same as for sewing a fur coat, hat or bag. If you are sewing mittens for a baby, then the pattern should be reduced.

It is necessary to transfer the pattern of the pattern to the fabric. Each mitten consists of three parts: one back and two inner (top and bottom). To cut a mitten for the second hand, transfer the pattern to the material in a mirror image.

Then you need to cut the material taking into account the seam allowance(one centimeter) and sew. First, the inner parts of the mitten, then connect them with the back. All seams are sewn from the wrong side and must be processed with a zigzag or overlock.

Mittens, like other parts of the costume, can be decorated with tinsel, snowflakes, beads, rhinestones or other New Year's decor.

How to make a beard

An important detail in Frost's suit - this is a beard, white, fluffy, magic... If you didn't manage to get a ready-made beard, you can make it yourself. You can from the following materials:

  • from padding polyester;
  • synthetic wool;
  • artificial fur;
  • white yarn;
  • paper or fabric.

Let's look at an example of creating from an old, forgotten, white or beige woolen sweater for machine knitting.

It is necessary to take an old sweater, PVA glue, scissors, a small white flap.

First, on a white cotton cloth, make a sketch of the beard of the desired size and cut it along the contour with scissors. Don't forget to make a hole for the mouth and ties to keep the beard on your head.

Then you need to gently dissolve the sweater into separate threads, starting from the lower edge of the beard, thread by thread, you can use small bunches. It is necessary to glue the beard onto the fabric base with even rows of threads, filling the entire free area and creating a real beard for Santa Claus. Thanks to machine knitting, the threads will turn out to be strongly twisted, curly. According to this principle, you can make a beard from strips of white ribbon used by florists, pre-curl them with a scissor blade or from strips of plain white paper.

Faux fur beard is also quick to master and looks great. It can be made round or triangular. Attached, like a sweater beard, with elastic bands or ribbons.

A beard for a child and a man can be made from household materials at hand. Take a clothesline and cut it into equal lengths. Using a gun and hot glue, gradually, row by row, glue the pieces of rope onto the fabric base for the beard.

If you have leftover wool for felting, you can make a mustache and beard for a fairytale hero out of it. Prepare the base from the fabric, glue the strands of wool, starting from the bottom.

To make the image of the main character of the New Year complete, be sure to make your grandfather specific makeup using makeup or women's cosmetics... Paint Frosty's red nose and ruddy cheeks, move the eyebrows with white shadows so that they match the white beard.

If you know how to knit or crochet, then the outfit can not only be sewn, but also knitted.

Now you can easily make a costume and a unique image of your favorite New Year's character.

Do-it-yourself voluminous Santa Claus

You can fold the volumetric figure of Santa Claus using the modular origami technique, which has become very popular in the last ten years.

The assembly of the product is carried out from the same modules that allow you to create any shape.

For example, for Santa Claus we need 493 identical modules (1 red for the nose, 275 white, 198 blue, 19 solid). Each module is assembled from a rectangular piece of paper measuring 37 * 53 mm, or 1/32 of a sheet.

The technique for creating a module is as follows:

  1. By adding the required number of modules of a certain color, you can go directly to the assembly
  2. At the base of 25 BM (white modules) placed on the short side in a circle
  3. In the second row, place 25 BM in the same way as in 1, but on the long side and put it on 1 row.
  4. The third row repeats the previous one
  5. In the fourth row, place 25 CM (blue modules) on the long side
  6. Fifth row: 22cm long and 3mm short, turn out ring
  7. In the sixth row 4 BM and 21CM, all long side out
  8. In the seventh row, 5 BM and 20 CM, located as in the previous row
  9. In the eighth row, 6 BM and 19 CM, located as in the previous row
  10. In the ninth row, 7 BM and 18 CM, located as in the previous row
  11. In the tenth row, 8 BM and 17 CM, located as in the previous row
  12. In the eleventh row, 25 BM, located as in the previous row
  13. In the twelfth row, 25 BM, located as in the previous row
  14. In the thirteenth row 1KM and 24 BM, located as in the previous row
  15. In the fourteenth row 2 BMs with the long side outward above the CMs of the 13th row, on both sides of them 2 TM (body modules) with the short side, the remaining 19 BM
  16. In the fifteenth row, 7 TM and 18 BM with long, short and long sides outward, respectively
  17. In the sixteenth row 8 TM and 17 BM with long, short and long sides outward, respectively
  18. In the seventeenth row, reduce the number of row elements by wearing 6 modules by 3 corners, a total of 22 BM outward with the short side
  19. In the eighteenth row 20 CM outward, short side
  20. Nineteenth 18CM short side out
  21. In the twentieth 9 BM short side forward
  22. Form handles from the remaining elements, glue the eyes and nose

On the New Year's tree, among other toys, there must be Santa Claus and Snegurochka. They can be made from felt or cut out of colored paper to make an applique.

It is also an interesting idea to make Santa Claus out of beads, you only need a fishing line and bugles of white and red colors. String the beads according to the pattern, and at the end make a loop from the remnants of the fishing line.

Santa Claus from balloons

A very convenient and compact option for later storage - Santa Claus from balloons. You will need white and red balls for a fur coat and hat, pink for the face and black for shoes.

  1. Inflate 31 red and 11 white balloons of the same size and lay them in the shape of a cone, so that there are 6 white balls in the first row, 6 red balls in the second and third, in the fourth 4 red 1 white, in the fifth 5 red, in the sixth 5 red, in the seventh 5 red, eighth 4 white.

Santa Claus made of wool

The felting technique allows you to create real masterpieces from ordinary wool. To felle Santa Claus, take flesh and white wool, felting needles, red felt for a fur coat, wire, beads and glue.

  • From flesh-colored wool, felle the shape in the form of a cone, on which the ball is put. The cone is the body, so add a little roundness on one side, this is the solid belly of Santa Claus.
  • Cut out a fur coat for Santa Claus from felt and sew it directly on the base.

  • Sew a small cone-shaped hat from the remnants of the red fabric.
  • From the white wool, felle the flagella so that they turn out fluffy on one side, put them on the sponge and use a needle to drive them into the sponge. Glue the finished flagella to the fur coat with glue along the hem and collar.
  • From the remaining white wool we form a beard and mustache and roll them with a needle.
  • Glue the eyes and nose
  • From the wire, measure the required length for the pens, wrap the wire with red felt and glue the mittens on the ends. Stick the open end of the wire into your torso.

Making toys with your own hands is a very interesting activity, if you have not tried it so far, then now is the time to start. Don't be discouraged if something didn't work out the first time, you can always try again. Santa Claus will bring New Year's mood and the feeling of an approaching holiday to your home!
