In a clinical setting, for practically healthy patients, the exposure time to points can be up to 30 minutes, for seriously ill patients - up to 60 minutes.

The treatment procedures offered in the book require a minimum expenditure of time - no more than three minutes.

However, drowsiness and lethargy indicate insufficient sleep and prolonged fatigue. It is necessary to pay close attention to such symptoms, as otherwise it can lead to serious dysfunctions of the body.

In case of mild lumbar pain caused by working in a sitting position, it is necessary to strictly monitor the correct posture, and if fatigue occurs, use the Shiatsu method, pressing with your thumbs along the lumbar vertebrae and the sacrum. Pressure points are shown in (fig. 22).

Soreness and fatigue in the shoulder girdle

Stiffness in the shoulder girdle, back fatigue, soreness of the muscles of the upper extremities and upper back (trapezoidal, large rhomboid, small rhomboid, levator scapula) are often associated with metabolic disorders, diabetes mellitus, climacteric disorders, anemia. A common reason there is also a violation of posture or curvature of the spinal column in the thoracic region. If soreness or stiffness occurs for no apparent reason, the following Shiatsu massage techniques will usually reduce pain and relieve tension.

In the supine position, it is necessary to press with two thumbs on the upper part of the patient's shoulder blades 5-6 times within three seconds. Pressure points are shown in (fig. 23). Then three times you need to press on the points in the interscapular region on the right and left sides.

Placing the thumbs on the first point on the right and left between the shoulder blades, and the rest of the fingers on the collarbones, the massage therapist should press with all fingers at the same time, then squeeze the muscles located above the shoulder blades and pull them up for one second. Reception is repeated three times.

Then, in a sitting position, the therapist bends the patient's torso back for three seconds and lifts the patient's torso up by the shoulders three times. Next, the masseur strokes with his palms chest down and finally three times performs light stroking along the spinal column.

Hand fatigue

Hand fatigue must be dealt with early, as it can cause severe pain. Accountants, secretaries, cashiers, pianists can get quick relief from pain in the hands by applying Shiatsu methods to the points shown in (Fig. 24-28).

Sellers, hairdressers and workers of other professions who are forced to be on their feet for a long time, when tired, can use the Shiatsu method, pressing not only on the points of the hands, but also on the points of the buttocks and legs.

Normalization of the function of the stomach and intestines

Decrease or loss of appetite often indicates a serious disturbance in the body. Regaining appetite is a sign of health. It can be restored by influencing the Shiatsu method on abdominal cavity.

If you do certain techniques every morning for three minutes in bed, you can improve the discharge of gases, the accumulation of which causes discomfort, and increase the flow of fresh blood into the abdominal cavity, which helps to improve metabolism.

The Shiatsu method can help prevent peptic ulcer disease, as well as other diseases of the stomach and duodenum.

For independent use of Shiatsu techniques, you should lie down with your legs extended straight. With the index, middle and ring fingers, press for three seconds on the epigastric region three times. Then, shifting your hands a little lower, again press on your stomach, then even lower, too, three times. After that, you should press three times on two points on the right and three times on two points on the left, that is, first over the liver, then over the spleen. Further, putting the palm of the right hand on the stomach area, and the left hand on the right, you need to perform pressure for about thirty seconds (Fig. 29, 30).

An important factor in good human health is the normal absorption of food, its assimilation and elimination of waste. On (fig. 31). a schematic representation of the digestive system is given.

Eating too much food causes a false sense of hunger. This haunted feeling of unsaturation can appear even immediately after a heavy meal. The constant habit of eating something all the time, overeating, the habit of smoking - all this is due to the swollen state of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines. The walls of the digestive tract are saturated with juice and are very soft. Such a state of theirs causes, even with a full stomach, a feeling of hunger.

The feeling of hunger decreases only with the further introduction of hearty and dense food into the body, since it, acting with its weight, compresses the walls of the tract, or by smoking, which reduces the amount of fluid in the mucous membrane, as if drying it out and temporarily reduces the sensitivity of the walls of the tract.

A person who experiences such a false feeling of hunger or lacks the willpower to quit smoking, after starting Shiatsu training, begins to realize and feel that the cause of these tendencies is a swollen condition of the walls of the stomach and intestines. The body receives many times less energy from plentiful food compared to the amount of perceived Chi energy. Frequent meals also contribute to constipation.

To eliminate chronic constipation, you must follow these rules every morning.

Feces tend to stagnate in the sigmoid colon, located to the left diagonally downward from the navel (Fig. 32). In a person suffering from chronic constipation, a seal is found in this place.

Using the Shiatsu three-finger technique, rubbing with both hands should be applied to this area for three minutes. After the onset of perturbation, the urge to defecate is felt in the intestine. Then you should drink a glass of warm, slightly salted water. With this daily morning procedure, the function of the sigmoid colon should be normalized.

Diarrhea is characterized by excessive intestinal peristalsis, which is the result of excessive irritation of the intestinal wall, increased sensitivity of its mucous membrane, or dysfunction of the autonomic nerves that regulate peristalsis.

In addition, overeating, excessive drinking, irritation of the intestinal mucosa by accumulated feces, a psychogenic factor (as a result of fright), food allergies, gastrogenic factors (lack of digestive juices), hypothermia at night, and a common cold can also cause diarrhea. With more serious factors of this malaise caused by enetritis, infectious diseases(cholera, dysentery), as well as tuberculosis, ulcerative colitis, rectal cancer, disorders of the secretion of the endocrine glands as a result of thyroid diseases, Addison's disease or toxins formed during pneumonia, septic conditions and toxicosis, you should immediately consult a doctor.

With psychogenic diarrhea, to obtain relief, the following Shiatsu techniques should be performed: pressure on the back of the neck (projection of the medulla oblongata, which controls the reflexes of the nervous system; pressure on points around the shoulder blades and axillary fossa to create tension in the muscles of the scapular region, which helps to strengthen the stomach and intestines; pressure on the lower back and sacrum; strong pressure with the thumbs on the point between the base of the first and second toes. It is enough to press 5-6 times on each leg; gentle palm pressure on the region of the descending colon and lower abdomen.

Stomach ache

Sudden, sharp pain in the stomach usually indicates gastritis, mainly of neurotic origin. If pain is noted on the right in the epigastric region, one should think about dysfunction of the gallbladder. In this case, Shiatsu methods can also be used.

To perform the massage, the patient must be laid on his stomach. Standing over it, the thumb of the right hand is placed on the fifth point between the shoulder blades (Fig. 33), the thumb of the left hand is placed on the right and pressed with the entire mass of your body for five seconds. The pressure is repeated five to six times. If pain continues, it is necessary to press on both sides of the spinal column, starting from the level of the fifth point after 25 mm down to the fifth lumbar vertebra. Press five to six times for three seconds.

Then it is necessary to turn the patient onto his back and lightly press with the palm of his right hand on the epigastric region (Fig. 34). After five to six minutes of such exposure, the pain should stop.

Gastroptosis (gastric emptying)

Drivers, hairdressers, teachers, and other people whose professional activities require prolonged sitting or standing in one position often have faces that are thin and pale in appearance due to gastroptosis, or gastric emptying.

Usually, overeating or overuse of medications and aids in digestion, and sometimes weakness of the supporting muscles, create conditions for the lower stomach to descend to the level of the navel or, in severe cases, to the pelvis, while displacing other internal organs. In women, this condition leads to prolapse of the uterus and ovaries.

Patients complain of a feeling of heaviness and fullness in the stomach, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness, headache, weight loss. Often these are nervous, restless people, locked in on their illness. The first thing to do is to convince the patient of the possibility of a cure. In this case, it is necessary to improve the general physical condition of the patient. To strengthen the muscles of the abdomen and peritoneum, it is necessary to apply the Shiatsu method. In this case important point is the restoration of normal stomach function, since dyspepsia and constipation often accompany gastroptosis.

Special attention should be paid to the areas of the shoulder girdle and neck, which are often tense and stiff in nervous people, as well as the chest, where nodular muscle compaction is sometimes found above the pectoralis major muscle. These knots should be rubbed vigorously but gently.

To strengthen the general condition and speed up the treatment process for gastroptosis, the following biological points should be influenced by the Shiatsu method: to act on the sixth, seventh and eighth points of the thoracic vertebrae, as well as the surrounding tissues - to normalize the function of the stomach and liver (Fig. 35); to act on points from the ninth to the twelfth thoracic vertebrae - to normalize kidney function; to act on the points of the adrenal glands, shoulder blades, upper back, latissimus dorsi (lower back) and forearm - to eliminate neurotic symptoms; press on the points of the fourth lumbar vertebra, the anterior surface of the neck - to increase the tone of the vagus nerve (Fig. 36, 37).

The final and most difficult phase of the course of treatment involves light pressure with the palm of the hand on the epigastric region (Fig. 34). To return to his stomach correct position, exercise careful pushing movements from the bottom up from the lower abdomen to the navel. Force cannot be used. Then the thumbs act on the san-ri point to eliminate the fatigue and chilliness characteristic of gastroptosis.

Cold

Almost no one can avoid a cold that occurs when the body is hypothermic, for example, during sleep, when the body lowers its internal temperature, and the capillaries of the skin remain dilated. Since the resulting imbalance makes the body vulnerable to cold, it is important to take shelter at night even during the warmer months. The individual degree of susceptibility to colds is largely determined by the body's defenses and its constitution.

Cold symptoms (runny nose, laryngitis, sore throat) are more likely not a disease, but an alarm signal, meaning that the body is not able to adapt to environmental conditions or to resist a possible viral infection.

The application of the Shiatsu method is aimed at increasing the resistance of the whole organism, and not at treating individual organs. Exposure to the Shiatsu method on the front of the neck, shoulder girdle, the area between the shoulder blades, lower back, thighs, lower legs, abdomen will reduce the symptoms caused by a cold. Pressure points are shown in (Fig. 19, 30, 38).

Nasal congestion

To eliminate nasal congestion, you must perform the following Shiatsu techniques: press firmly on the front of the neck; with the middle finger, placed on the tip of the index finger, repeat the pressure on both sides of the nose from the base to the nostrils.

When performing self-massage, only the middle finger can be used, but pressure with two fingers increases the effectiveness of the treatment.

Pus that accumulates during inflammation in the paranasal sinuses (passages associated with the frontal and maxillary sinuses) causes a condition known as sinusitis, in which there is greenish discharge from the nose, it is congested, and a headache appears that impairs memory and performance.

Sinusitis can be treated with Shiatsu massage. When performing massage, press on both sides of the nose, on the forehead, the parietal bone, the lateral and back surface of the neck, the medulla oblongata and the shoulder girdle.

Toothache

Toothache caused by caries, alveolar pyorrhea, gingivitis, periodontal disease and pulpitis requires an immediate visit to the dentist. Sometimes nervous tension can cause a toothache, similar to pain in organic disorders. In these cases, exposure to Shiatsu techniques can alleviate and sometimes completely eliminate pain. Performing massage, it is necessary to press on the carotid artery under the lower jaw on the side of the diseased tooth (Fig. 39); press on the place of projection of the temporomandibular joint (Fig. 40); press hard with three fingers on the temples. Repeat the pressure two or three times; press for a long time with three fingers on the cheek over the diseased tooth (Fig. 41). The pain will gradually subside.

Hoarseness

Hoarseness can be eliminated by the following Shiatsu methods: alternately press on the third and fourth points on the front of the neck (Fig. 19); gently press on the occipital region, shoulder girdle and celiac (solar) plexus (epigastric region) (Fig. 34).

Headache

Headache often accompanies toothache. Whatever the cause of the headache, Shiatsu methods are effective in eliminating it.

To eliminate the headache with Shiatsu massage, it is necessary to lay the patient on his back and sit at the head of the bed facing his crown; press on the key points along the midline from the front border of hair growth to the crown; press on all six points three times; press the three key points to the left and right of the crown four times (Fig. 18); repeat the second technique; press simultaneously on the points on the crown four times and repeat the second technique again.

Shoulder and back pain

Back and shoulder pain, called in Japan the back of a 40-year-old and the shoulders of a 50-year-old because it usually occurs in people of this age, is treatable with the Shiatsu method.

To eliminate pain in the shoulders using the Shiatsu method, it is necessary to sit the patient straight, stand next to him on one knee; first press on the three key points of the deltoid muscle on the shoulder, and then massage the shoulders downward (Fig. 42); repeat the pressure three times for two seconds on each point. According to the patient's reaction, determine the most painful point; Apply continuous pressure to this point to relieve pain and muscle tension. Then it is necessary to lay the patient on his side and sit facing his back; put one thumb on the other and press them three points below the scapular fossa (Fig. 43); since this area is very sensitive, pressure should be started with light pressure, gradually increasing its strength.

The full course of treatment consists of twenty sessions. A hot bath after each session increases the effectiveness of the treatment.

Lumbar pain

Lumbar pain most often occurs in middle-aged people due to prolonged work in a standing or sitting position. You can cure them using Shiatsu methods.

To cure pain in the lumbar region, it is necessary to lay the patient on his stomach and sit next to him. With three fingers, lightly press on the fifth lumbar vertebra. This will increase the pain. Then, with your thumbs, press symmetrically on the muscles along the spinal column. After relaxing the muscles, press on the spinal column. Continue pressure until the patient's condition improves.

Next, you need to lay the patient on his back. Press lightly with the palm of your hand on the abdomen from the epigastric region to the colon (Fig. 52). Repeat pressure on all tense places. When the abdomen relaxes, the pain in the lumbar region will disappear.

Nose bleed

Nosebleeds can occur in women in the sixth or seventh month of pregnancy, during menopause, with excitement or a sudden change in diet.

Attacks of sudden rush of blood to the head (including in the later stages of pregnancy), accompanied by heaviness in the head, redness of the eyes and face, are usually the result of angioneurosis. See your doctor for frequent nosebleeds, but bleeding from high blood pressure, compensatory menstruation, or emotional stress can be managed at home.

In order to stop the bleeding from the nose, you need to close the nostrils with cotton or gauze, and if it continues, put a cold towel on the bridge of the nose. To apply the Shiatsu method, the patient must tilt his head back (Fig. 44). However, with high blood pressure, the head should be kept straight. Then, holding the forehead with the left hand, massage the points in the medulla oblongata with the thumb of the right hand until the bleeding stops.

Lumbago

A lumbago in the neck, caused by sleeping in an unnatural position, or in other parts of the body with a sudden movement or an attempt to lift a weight, is accompanied by acute pain and tension of the surrounding muscles. These symptoms, however, are only superficial manifestations of deeper disorders leading to incoherent muscle work. Violent force on the affected area will only increase pain and cause inflammation.

To heal a lumbago with the Shiatsu method, it is necessary to act not only on the tense superficial muscles, but also on the affected deep muscles. To determine the localization of the lesion, lightly press on the painful area. In case of severe pain, this place must be relaxed by warming it with your hand or with a hot towel.

The impact of the Shiatsu method must be used with caution, since the application of force can do great harm.

It is necessary to press gently until superficial discomfort and deeper disturbances disappear.

These phenomena completely disappear only after a few days, however, the Shiatsu method from the first days reduces pain when moving in the affected part of the body.

The source of the more serious lumbago is stiffness in the shoulders.

It must be treated at the first sign of manifestation.

Bruises and sprains

Many sports are beneficial to human health, but they also contribute to the annual incidence of bruises, fractures, sprains and bruises. The external symptoms of a bruise can be so insignificant that a person does not pay attention to them, however, as a result of a bruise, disturbances in the connective tissue membranes and blood capillaries develop, contributing to the occurrence of swelling, subcutaneous hemorrhage and inflammation. Therefore, in case of bruises, immediate assistance should be provided to prevent these phenomena.

Sprains caused by strong force on the joint or by improper movement that exceed normal joint mobility lead to damage to the capsule and ligaments of the joint and are accompanied by severe pain.

Despite the fact that after stretching the pain stops for a while, nevertheless it can be a source of great concern for the patient and therefore requires a long time to heal.

When treating bruises and sprains with the Shiatsu method, the following techniques should be used. Press with the palm of one hand on the damaged area, as with bruises and sprains, swelling and acute pain are noted. Press lightly on the damaged part of the body until the irritation and throbbing disappear.

Starting from the top point of the injury, carry out the appropriate treatment of the affected limb using the Shiatsu method. Carry out a thorough influence of the Shiatsu method on the muscles associated with the damaged part. Such treatment should speed up recovery.

Displacement of the intervertebral discs

Displacement of the intervertebral discs, followed by pressure on the structures of the spinal cord, is usually caused by a fall, weight lifting, or a sudden and unnatural twist of the trunk. To provide assistance, you must apply the following techniques: lay the patient's stomach; clarify the localization of pain; usually this is the fourth or fifth lumbar vertebrae, however, it should be clarified whether it is right or left-hand side vertebra (Fig. 45).

If the process is localized to the left of the fourth lumbar vertebra, then avoiding sharp pressure, it is necessary to eliminate muscle tension to the left of the vertebra by prolonged exposure to the thumb.

Next, the pad of the middle finger should gently press on the depression between the spinous processes of the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae. In this case, the patient feels acute pain. Pain indicates that the localization of the displaced disc is correct. Light pressure for one second must be repeated five times.

Then the patient should lie on his back. Use the Shiatsu method to apply pressure to the abdomen, especially the epigastric region, with your fingers and palm.

Press gently but deeply to the left of the navel. If at the same time pain in the lumbar region is determined, you should press on this place ten times for about three seconds.

After the end of the massage procedure, the patient should lie still for some time, and in the following days, avoid turning and tilting.

Bed-wetting

Urinary incontinence occurs when there is a violation of the reaction of the sphincter (constrictor) of the bladder. Excessive fluid intake or cooling during sleep also leads to bedwetting.

Treatment of bedwetting with the Shiatsu method is as follows: press on five points on both sides of the lumbar region, then on three points of the sacrum (Fig. 35); with the palm of your hand, press on the lower abdomen, especially on the area above the bladder; press in the area of ​​the medulla oblongata.

Bronchial asthma

To relieve coughing and reduce suffocation in asthmatic attacks, the following Shiatsu techniques should be used: press on the right and left sides of the body, between the shoulder blades, on the back of the neck (three points on each side) and the thoracic vertebrae (Fig. 21, 35).

During an attack, the patient must be laid on his back without a pillow. At the same time, press on one point on the front of the neck, and with the other four on three points on the back of the neck.

Place a pillow under the patient's head and in a circular motion with the palms of both hands, press on the chest. Pressing repeat ten times, then press twice vertically down on the chest to facilitate exhalation.

At the end of the treatment procedure, pressure should be applied to the abdomen.

Calf muscle cramps

Cramps of the gastrocnemius muscle are the result of overwork, disruption of the activity of internal organs, cooling of the lower extremities or lumbar region, damage to the sciatic nerve.

For the treatment of spasms of the gastrocnemius muscle using the Shiatsu method, it is necessary to apply strong pressure on the greater trochanter of the femur;

press on three points on the back of the thigh and in the popliteal fossa;

press on eight points in the lower leg area towards the outer ankle (Fig. 14);

press on the san-ri points, then the shins, ankles and plantar surfaces.

Frequent use of shiatsu can help prevent seizures.

Numbness in the legs

If the legs are numb due to prolonged kneeling or squatting, the following Shiatsu treatment should be performed:

stretch your legs; press hard using the Shiatsu method on eight points of the lower leg; both massage six points around the calf muscle; press on the san-ri points, then on the ankles and soles (Fig. 14).

Whiplash injury

In our time, the displacement of the seventh cervical vertebra is especially common as a result of a strong shock or shock during sudden braking or an accident. The subsequent compression of the cervical nerves causes headache, dizziness, neck pain, numbness in the hands, which sometimes do not go away for a long time. If you have lost consciousness as a result of an accident, you should immediately consult a doctor. In case of persistent consequences of a whiplash injury, the following Shiatsu techniques should be applied.

Press on the lateral and back surfaces of the neck and on the region of the medulla oblongata to the base of the neck. This will help bring the muscles in the neck, and therefore the displaced bones, back to their normal position.

Sometimes, radiographically, violations that cause pain symptoms are not detected. Therefore, for any injury with suspected whiplash, it is advisable to immediately begin treatment using the Shiatsu method.

Writing spasm

Writing spasm is possible with chronic overwork of the muscles of the forefear.

It is most often noted by artists and writers.

To get rid of writer's cramp, you should apply the following Shiatsu techniques.

Press on the points of the front, side and back of the neck, on the shoulder

belt and in the infraspinatus fossa of the scapula.

Massage your hands thoroughly, especially the forearms and the san-ri point on the hand, as well as the hands (wrists, metacarpals, fingers).

Press on the back of the hand (between the metacarpals) at three points in each interdigital space, starting from the thumb, on all points of each finger. Then you should press on three points on the palmar surface of the hand (Figure 46).

Diabetes

Diabetes mellitus, which is equally common among young and old people, causes sexual weakness, rapid fatigue, which affects the daily activities of a person.

Diabetes mellitus develops as a result of the inability of the pancreas to secrete enough insulin and the subsequent rise in blood glucose levels. Typically, for diabetes mellitus, insulin obtained from the pancreas of cattle is administered. Although this therapy temporarily relieves the symptoms of the disease, it does not solve the problem.

It is possible to help the pancreas restore its important function by applying the Shiatsu method, affecting key points. To do this, lay the patient on his stomach, find the seventh cervical vertebra (the most prominent) and, counting down ten vertebrae from it, you can find a stiff tense muscle on each side of the spinal column.

This muscle must be relaxed using the Shiatsu method to improve the function of the pancreas (Fig. 47). During the massage, it is also necessary to press on the point in the epigastric region (Fig. 34).

Insomnia

People who sleep well are usually different good health as a good sleep eliminates the fatigue that builds up during the day.

The duration of sleep depends on the individual characteristics of the organism and the degree of fatigue. Usually, six to eight hours of sleep is sufficient for rest.

Napoleon, whether the legend is true or not, that he slept three hours a day, gave two interesting advice suffering from insomnia. He said that when he went to sleep, he closed all the drawers in the locker of his brain and immediately fell into a deep sleep. Forgetting everything and getting deep sleep even for a short time is much better for the body than ten hours of superficial restless sleep. Napoleon's second advice was to get out of bed immediately upon awakening. Lying in bed for hours after a good sleep is a bad habit that does not bring anything good to the body.

The following Shiatsu techniques will help to get rid of insomnia.

It is necessary to press with the thumb of the left hand on the anterior surface of the neck on the left (Fig. 48), then along the carotid artery at four points towards the clavicle. This pressure should be repeated three times on each side.

Using the three-finger method, for three seconds, press on each of the three points corresponding to the medulla oblongata (Fig. 49).

After that, press on three points located along the muscles of the back of the neck on both sides of the cervical spine, starting from the medulla oblongata and ending at the apex of the shoulder girdle. Repeat these pressures three times for three seconds each.

Stretching your legs, you should bend and straighten the big toes as much as possible to stimulate blood circulation in the lower extremities. Then you should apply pressure with the pads of your fingers at the twenty points shown in (Fig. 38).

Normalization of the function of internal organs

It has long been noted that human fingers are closely connected with internal organs, especially with the brain, therefore, their development and strengthening has a beneficial effect on the general condition of the body.

People with heart disease often have weak little fingers, sometimes to the point where the fingers do not bend properly. Exercising the little finger improves heart function.

Strengthening the ring finger normalizes liver function, and the middle finger lowers blood pressure, improves bowel function. People with weak index fingers often suffer from stomach problems. People with strong thumbs are more likely to have strong will, since the development of this finger has a beneficial effect on the brain.

Daily Shiatsu and hand exercises to the greatest extent possible will promote health.

Holding the left thumb between the thumb and forefinger right hand, make a pulling motion while applying pressure three zones from the base to the tip of the fingers, including the pad of the finger. You need to press first from the front and back, and then from the sides. On the other fingers, the procedure is similar, but since they are longer, you must press on four points (Fig. 46).

The same technique should be applied to the fingers of the right hand.

Development of endurance

Living in a fast-paced modern world it is not enough to be strong only mentally or physically. You also need to be hardy. Despite the huge amount of tonics advertised, energy and strength do not have to be drawn from this way. This can be achieved using the Shiatsu method.

The following techniques of the Shiatsu method will help develop endurance.

Therapeutic pressure applied to the medulla oblongata affects the diencephalon, relieves the effects of stress and stimulates the development of endurance. The accumulation of nerve endings located in a depression in the occipital region corresponds to the medulla oblongata - the lowest part of the brain.

The medulla oblongata receives information from various areas of the body, transmits it to nerve cells in other parts of the brain and, working in a similar way, controls such important body functions as swallowing, breathing and cardiac activity. The significance of this organ is so great that a needle inserted into it instantly kills a cat or dog. Spanish matadors kill bulls by piercing the medulla oblongata with their swords.

The adrenal glands are sources of hormones. They are located at the level of the eleventh and twelfth thoracic vertebrae and also play important role in the development of endurance.

To stimulate the activity of the adrenal glands, it is necessary to symmetrically influence the Shiatsu method on the sixth, seventh and eighth points on the back (Fig. 35). In addition, these glands significantly affect sexual function.

Improving liver function

The following Shiatsu methods should be used to improve liver function. Ten pressing on the liver area, which should be performed with palms placed one on top of the other (Fig. 50) for three minutes in the morning in bed, helps to improve its function. Pain that may be felt at the beginning of treatment and that is the result of liver dysfunction should decrease with Shiatsu treatment. This technique also helps prevent hangovers.

During laughter, the activity of the diaphragm is stimulated, which in turn activates the activity of the digestive and respiratory systems. This, together with normalized liver function, will help keep you in a good mood all day long.

Cheerful mood

Create a good mood, develop the will to win, endurance, relieve mental and physical stress in a matter that requires a lot of stress, possibly by using the Shiatsu method on the upper shoulder girdle and on the points between the shoulder blades (Fig. 44).

To create a good, cheerful mood, it is necessary to press on the thoracic vertebrae on the right and left. The pressure should be moderate.

Pressing on the neck can also help promote a cheerful mood. To perform this technique, you need to press the back of the neck four times with the thumb of your left hand, three times on each side. Then four fingers should be moved to the back of the head and the pads of the thumbs press on the neck from the side three times on each of the four points, starting from the auricles (Fig. 48, 51).

Lowering blood pressure

Reducing high blood pressure and preventing atherosclerosis, in order to avoid a stroke that occurs when blood vessels in the brain are damaged, is achieved by many methods.

The general effect of the Shiatsu method helps to maintain the elasticity of all muscles, and therefore, of blood vessels. The following Shiatsu techniques are complementary and are aimed at maintaining overall muscle tone.

Press the pad of the thumb on the first point under the lower jaw in the place where the pulsation of the carotid artery is felt, up to a count of ten (Fig. 48). Then release, inhale and press again. After pressing three times on the left side, similar actions should be done on the right. Pressure in this place on the carotid artery normalizes blood pressure to a certain extent.

Then, with the middle fingers of both hands, press three times on the area of ​​the medulla oblongata to a count of ten. After that, with three fingers of each hand, press on the base of the occipital bone and three points above it. Increasing the pressure each time, it is necessary to repeat the pressure three times. Press with three fingers on both sides on the back of the neck downward (Fig. 49). Repeat three times for each of the three points.

Press with three fingers on both sides of the epigastric region, count to ten and release. Repeat the pressure ten times (fig. 33). Then apply strong pressure, combined with stretching the left middle finger, and then the right middle finger (Fig. 52).

Increased blood pressure

Blood pressure that is slightly lower than normal is not a cause for concern. The life expectancy of such people may even increase. Significantly low blood pressure, which is accompanied by impaired heart function, can lead to a deterioration in cerebral circulation. Excessive general fatigue, weakness, dizziness, eye strain, insomnia, recurring headache, inability to concentrate, palpitations, shortness of breath, or tightness in the chest or epigastric region are signs of low blood pressure.

These vague symptoms, often diagnosed as a sign of neurosis or anemia, as well as attacks of dizziness (orthostatic hypotensive asthenia) that occur when getting up quickly or lifting weights, indicate a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates blood pressure.

With such phenomena, the use of the Shiatsu method can be beneficial and increase blood pressure. To do this, you need to perform the following techniques: first press on the carotid artery, then on the back of the head, the medulla oblongata, the upper shoulder girdle, then on the points between the shoulder blades (Fig. 53).

Strengthening the heart

The modern stressful lifestyle often causes palpitations, shortness of breath, discomfort in the region of the heart, sometimes pain and other symptoms that are observed in organic diseases, for example, damage to the heart valves, post-infarction state. These are neurotic symptoms caused by dysfunction of the vasomotor center located below the hypothalamus in the brainstem, disrupt blood circulation throughout the body, act directly on the heart and, introducing a disorder in the activity of the nerve centers in the hypothalamus, cause shortness of breath, fever, increased sweating. Since the brain stem is the transmitter of all kinds of sensations, emotional stress affects the heart. Conversely, any disturbances in the heart, even of a neurotic nature, cause anxiety, which aggravates the disorder in the brain stem.

In order to get out of this vicious circle, it is necessary to avoid mental and physical overwork, lack of sleep, stimulating food and drink, smoking, and lead a measured lifestyle.

Using the Shiatsu method, it is possible to eliminate the symptoms that have appeared. To do this, the Shiatsu method affects the head, upper limb, the medulla oblongata, the shoulder blades (especially the left), the area of ​​attachment of the pectoralis major muscle, and the supracranial region.

The palms of the hands must be pressed deeply, but at the same time carefully (Fig. 54, a - f).

Motion sickness

On the train, motion sickness can be caused by hunger or insufficient sleep, as well as as a result of sitting for a long time in one position, because of which the blood in sufficient quantities does not flow to the brain, but stagnates in the limbs. In this case, to obtain quick relief, it is necessary to apply Shiatsu techniques and press on the san-ri points (Fig. 14) on the shins, the arch of the foot, the medulla oblongata and the back of the head.

On the plane, motion sickness is more of a psychological nature, so it is best eliminated by talking to someone or reading. The feeling of discomfort in the ears due to changes in air pressure will disappear if you chew gum, suck hard candy, eat or talk. When swallowing, the pressure difference between the passenger compartment and the middle ear is equalized.

Pressing by the Shiatsu method on the mastoid processes, temples, the medulla oblongata and the back of the head is quite effective.

If motion sickness occurs as a result of self-hypnosis in neurosis, as well as due to poor digestion, you should press first on the mastoid process (the bone protruding behind the ear), then on the medulla oblongata, the back of the head, shoulders and the area between the shoulder blades. After the tension in these places disappears, the nausea goes away.

In case of motion sickness due to an increased sensitivity to the smell of gasoline, ensure sufficient air flow. If sudden stops, turns, driving at high speed or on a bad road lead to motion sickness, you need to get out of the car for a short time, apply strong pressure on the mastoid processes and the epigastric region.

When an attack of motion sickness occurs, press on the mastoid processes, abdomen (especially on the stomach area), shoulder girdle and spinal column. Such pressure will improve the condition, will induce appetite.

Baby care

Using Shiatsu techniques while swaddling or bathing a baby improves appetite, promotes healthy digestion, and promotes rapid growth and development.

Place the palm of your hand on the baby's navel and for about ten

gradually increase the pressure for seconds. This pressure must be repeated five times for two seconds each.

Use the pads of the index, middle, and ring fingers to lightly press down on the epigastric region. Repeat the pressure three times for two seconds.

Torticollis

Pediatric torticollis can be congenital or acquired due to improper care of the child when he sleeps on one side. Early treatment using the Shiatsu method will help get rid of excessive contraction of the sternocleidomastoid muscle (extends from the mastoid process, located behind the earlobe, to the clavicle and sternum), causing this defect (Fig. 56).

With the thumb of the hand, massaging from top to bottom, press on the tense muscle.

Press ten times on three points located on the anterolateral surface of the neck from the auricle to the shoulder girdle.

Press three points on the side of the neck ten times.

Perform this series of pressures three times a day. Treatment should be carried out carefully and persistently, but very carefully.

Increased sexual potency in men

To prevent loss of sexual activity, Shiatsu pressure should be applied to the lumbosacral region (Fig. 57), where the lumbosacral plexus is located. Light pressure on the points of the lumbar vertebrae and sacrum ten times for three seconds each strengthens these nerves, even in athletes in some sports, in whom injuries in this area contribute to a decrease in sexual potency.

Pressure on the sacrum in women has the same effect as in men.

To prevent the loss of sexual activity, pressure is applied to the epigastric region with three fingers (Fig. 37). You must press ten times for five seconds each. Pressure on the epigastric region reflexively affects the lumbosacral area and promotes increased sexual activity.

Liver disease, which is often observed in people of mental labor, contributes to the decrease in sexual activity. Frequent pressure below the right costal arch (Fig. 50) will increase sexual activity.

The state of anger, constant irritability, discontent has a bad effect on sexual activity, since anger has a bad effect on liver function.

All body functions, including sexual, relieve constipation. To eliminate it, it is necessary to gently knead the abdominal area to the left and downward from the navel - the sigmoid colon (Fig. 32).

Pressing on the area between the navel and the pubic region stimulates the function of the bladder and, as a result, enhances the sexual response (Fig. 58).

The sexual response is stimulated by elastic pressure, first around the anus, and then on the perineum between the anus and the scrotum.

Elastic compression of the testicles (according to the Japanese recommendation - the number of contractions corresponds to the number of years of life) has an exciting effect, especially with age, and rubbing the vertebral ligament located at the edge of the pubic bone increases the sensitivity of the testicles.

Premature ejaculation

Young men, especially those with insufficient sexual experience, may experience premature ejaculation. However, sometimes even experienced men with strong sexual arousal, they are not able to perform sexual intercourse of normal duration. This phenomenon can eliminate the frequent use of Shiatsu techniques. In this case, it is necessary to act on the sacrum and epigastric region.

These same techniques will help men over fifty years of age to have multiple sexual acts with one ejaculation, since the loss a large number sperm depletes the body.

There are a number of points that are influenced by a reflex effect on the endocrine glands and sensitive areas that stimulate a woman's sexual response.

These points include the points of the thyroid gland, which are located on the surface of the neck above the collarbones (Fig. 19), as well as the point of the adrenal glands, which is at the level of the eleventh or twelfth ribs. Pressing on these points is performed with a fist.

The endocrine gland point is nodded on the sternum (Fig. 59). Groin points - on the inner thighs (Fig. 36).

Impact of Shiatsu massage on a woman's genital area

Frigidity

In case of frigidity, the following Shiatsu techniques should be used: a woman lies on her stomach, downward with the entire mass of her body, it is necessary to press on points on both sides of the third, fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae (the second vertebra is at the waist level), then it is necessary to gently press on points in the area of ​​the buttocks (Fig. 22).

The treatment ends with a full exposure to the Shiatsu method on the anterior surface of the neck (thyroid area), sensitive areas in the area of ​​the medulla oblongata, mammary glands and inner thighs.

The impact on these points can be carried out at any time of the day and in any convenient place, which plays an important role in the preservation of marital sex drive. In addition, an orderly, calm lifestyle contributes to an increase in libido.

Stimulating hormone production

Pressure on the points of the endocrine glands stimulates the production of hormones, which contributes to the good condition of the skin, preservation of the figure. Almost four thousand years ago, women of Muslim harems used this technique, for a long time they retained a fresh look and attractiveness.

Techniques for influencing the endocrine glands using the Shiatsu method.

Tilt your neck slightly forward and apply pressure with the pad of your thumb to the fourth point on your neck (thyroid area) for two seconds. This pressure should be repeated five times on each side. Then you should carry out a full series of pressure on the left and right three times. By acting on these points, you can also prevent early graying of hair. A good result is obtained by using this method while taking a bath.

Keeping the eyes attractive

The expressiveness of the eyes in many ways makes a person attractive. To keep your eyes clean, clear, and attractive, and to achieve rapid relief of eye pain, headache, heaviness or bloating in the head from working indoors, reading, or sitting in front of the TV for long periods of time, the following Shiatsu techniques should be followed.

Press with three fingers, placing them along the upper edge of the eye socket, towards the eyebrow three times. In this case, care should be taken that the nails do not touch the skin (Fig. 60).

Use the pads of your thumbs to press down on the eyelids for about ten seconds. Complete the series with a full complex of Shiatsu facial massage.

If time permits, you can use three fingers to press on the zygomatic bone (trigeminal nerve) or on the temples. If these actions do not bring the desired result, you should press on the area between the upper corner and the inner edge of the shoulder blades.

Breast enlargement

Most effective methods Shiatsu to enlarge the mammary glands consists in pressing on the thyroid gland, the medulla oblongata, the shoulder girdle, and the shoulder (Fig. 61). Climacteric disorders

Menopause is a natural phenomenon, since age changes are inevitable. However, its course depends on physical development, the number of pregnancies, childbirth, nutrition, etc. It usually begins with a disturbance in the menstrual cycle, which can sometimes last for years. With age-related ovarian atrophy, egg development and ovulation become irregular and then stop altogether.

Hot flashes and neurosis in combination with age-related symptoms caused by disorder and disturbance of the endocrine, especially the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, adrenal glands and pancreas, as well as a violation of the autonomic nervous system that controls them, usually accompany menopause.

The tension of the sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the autonomic nervous system causes disturbances in the motor nerves, dizziness, heaviness in the head, constant headache, excessive sweating, hysteria, tinnitus, climacteric arterial hypertension, tachycardia or bradycardia, facial flushing, hot flashes, loss of appetite, taste disturbance, persistent diarrhea or constipation, depression, irritability, melancholy, memory impairment, insomnia.

In order to reduce or remove these phenomena, the following Shiatsu techniques should be applied.

Start by applying pressure to the front of the neck, in particular the four points of the thyroid gland (Fig. 19).

Then you need to continue pressing on the medulla oblongata, shoulder girdle, shoulders, abdomen, epigastric region and lower abdomen (Fig. 62).

The Shiatsu manual suggests using the thumb, fingers, elbows, legs to massage, but no other tools are used to apply pressure to the skin. Modern science recognizes 692 active points on the human body, traditional acupressure suggests working on 360, and in practice only 150 are used.

During cosmetic skin correction, they act on the energy points of the face, thus releasing the flow of energy. Thanks to this, the skin is tightened, wrinkles and other age-related changes disappear. Shiatsu therapy is very pleasant, calming and relaxing.

The procedure in the beauty salon includes several stages, after which the client receives radiant skin and pleasant relaxation. When correcting the face with massage, an immediate effect is noticeable.

This procedure will not be difficult at home. You don't need to have a medical degree to do this. The procedure includes:

  • basic makeup removal;
  • cleansing the skin with peeling using a light massage;
  • impact on shiatsu points;
  • applying an active serum enzyme to the face;
  • for the eye area, use a special collagen mask or any other.

Shiatsu: the perfect timing

The morning is considered the ideal time for a massage. You can turn to a professional craftsman for this service, but it is quite possible to learn how to do it yourself. If the procedure is performed in the morning, then the person receives a boost of energy for the whole day. How to do shiatsu for the face

After washing your face in the morning, giving yourself a maximum of fifteen minutes of time, concentrate on your inner sensations for simple gymnastics. When doing the massage, try not to displace or stretch the delicate skin of your face. Movements should be done very gently, lightly and slowly.

Acupressure massage is done in two ways: with hands, or with specially designed balls called ki-gong. They are pressed against the skin and rotated clockwise.

Below is the technique for performing shiatsu massage, the movements are performed with the fingers:

  • the finger is perpendicular to the skin surface;
  • press hard on a special point;
  • hold the pressure for at least 7 seconds (unless another time is written in the exercise);
  • small circular movements are allowed without displacement of the skin.

For eyes

For the appearance of shine in the eyes, the disappearance of edema of the eyelids, and improvement of vision - for three seconds, gently press with your fingers on the inner corner of the eye. Perform 3 times.

In case of eye fatigue (reading, computer) or myopia, massage the middle point on the eyebrows.

To remove "crow's feet" helps pressing on the points located at a distance of a centimeter from the outside of the eye. Pressing is performed for 7 seconds, while directing the movement slightly up and towards the temples.

From wrinkles on the forehead

Press with your fingers on the points shown in the diagram, the pressure is directed towards the temples, after 7 seconds the fingers are rearranged a little further and so moving along the entire forehead to the temples. To reduce headache, carry out with all fingers from the middle of the forehead to the hairline.

For the mouth

To prevent the appearance of folds around the mouth: for half a minute, massage the skin of the corners of the lips with the tips of your fingers (thumb and forefinger). They start from the center under the lower lip and work their way up to the edges of the corners of the lips. Also, the point under the lower lip helps with paralysis of the facial nerve, toothache and facial swelling.

The point above the upper lip is used to prevent purse-string wrinkles. Place the middle finger on a special point (see figure), the index and ring finger next to it on the upper lip. Enough 5-6 clicks. Use a point in the nasolabial fold for fainting.

Tighten your cheeks

The figure shows the points running along the edge of the upper cheekbone. Press on all six at the same time and massage for 7 seconds.

Remove "flews", improve the oval of the face

The thumbs are placed under the jaw, the rest are at the points indicated in the figure, the fingers are squeezed for 7 seconds. Then they rearrange the composition a little further (follow the arrow in the figure), repeat everything and move this way until they reach the end of the lower jaw, about 4-5 approaches.

Above are the basic exercises that you need to do every day in the morning, then the skin will remain fresh and radiant for a long time. After the massage, the cream is applied to the face according to the skin type.

From wrinkles on the bridge of the nose

Consider the drawing (the area is between the eyebrows), the highest point, this is the third eye, massage it in a circular motion. Helps with headaches, runny nose, flu, nosebleeds. Contraindications

The procedure has its own contraindications:

  3. General poor health.
  4. Decreased intracranial pressure.
  5. Individual intolerance to this type of massage.

  • The procedure is performed with the whole hand, the exceptions are those places where it is not possible to do this.
  • Lymph is located between the skin and muscles. Lightly stroking the face, we get a skin massage. Pressing hard - muscles. Therefore, the pressure on the skin should be medium.
  • The meaning of the Japanese procedure is to disperse the lymph to the lymph nodes, therefore, from the beginning to the end of each movement, the hands are not taken off the skin. Any manipulations on the lymph nodes come to an end (see figure).
  • Each movement is performed at least 3 times, if the face is started then 5.

Massage movements:

  1. We smooth the forehead and drive the lymph to the ear (here is the lymph node), we do the same with the chin;
  2. from the nasolabial fold to the mouth, without taking off the hands, we lead to the ear;
  3. from the eyes through the lower cheekbone to the lymph node;
  4. from the outside of the eye, we draw a semicircle, moving along the lower cheekbone to the nose, along the eyebrow and to the lymph node.
