In our case, the horizontal knitting density (Pg) is equal to 2.18 loops in 1 cm. To create a cap pattern, you will need one measurement - head circumference (Og). We will knit a cap for a head circumference equal to 38 cm. In calculations we will use a half-size measurement, half head circumference: Sgol = 19 cm.

Cap pattern:

Let's start knitting from the face (line AB). We calculate segment AB using the formula:

AB = 1.5 x Sgol + Pr = 1.5 x 19 + 6 = 34.5 cm,

where Pr = 6 cm is the increase, the same for all sizes.

Master class for a beginner

Any work begins with the preparation of the material. We will need: yarn - 30 g or about 70 m. It is best if it is wool. And take the knitting needles with which you will knit. The most suitable would be No. 3.

1. Cast on 60 stitches on the knitting needles and start knitting with a regular elastic band. To do this, you need to knit the first row by alternating knit and purl stitches, and the second row - knit one knit stitch and pull out the second. That is, do not knit one loop, but immediately remove it from the left knitting needle to the right one, as shown in the figure.

We will need 6-8 rows of this knitting. The result is a pattern like this:

1. Next, knit 24-28 rows in stockinette stitch. First a row of knit stitches, then a row of purl stitches.

As you can see, we have an elastic band and the beginning of the cap itself.

1. Now we divide the loops into three equal parts and secure them with paper clips or pins so as not to get tangled. We knit the left side as usual, and knit 2 loops to the right and left of the paper clip together.

Now we have 19 loops left. Turn the knitting inside out and knit to the next staple marking the right side. We also knit two loops to the right and left of the paper clip. The staples can be removed.

1. We turn the knitting to the right side again and see that there are gaps where the loops were knitted. In these places it will be necessary to knit two loops. As a result, the middle of the cap remains unchanged, but the sides are constantly getting smaller. Instead of 20, we should have 12 loops left on each side. After this, you need to equally remove 6 more loops from the middle. This leaves 8 loops in the middle and none on the sides. Knitting should look like this:

1. Now the knitting is on the wrong side. Without turning the product over, we find the edge of each sidewall and knit another purl loop from it.
2. Turn it over to the front side and knit a row with an elastic band. Again we decorate each edge with loops, but this time with knit stitches.
3. We finish the cap with an elastic band. 6 rows will be enough. And then we knit 3 loops from each edge and make ties using stockinette stitch.

The cap is ready!
