London fashion week. What awaits us at london fashion week. Elongated blazer - a bright element of street style

London is a special city on the trendy map of the planet. The British capital has presented the world with a great variety of talented designers - from Charles Worth, the founder of modern system fashion and author fashion shows, to Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Paul Smith ... In the list of famous English fashion designers, women occupy a special place - Mary Quant, who is still credited with the authorship of the miniskirt, the author of punk fashion Vivienne Westwood and the heiress of the McQueen case Sarah Burton.

As interesting as British designers are, London Fashion Week is just as interesting, where the most daring fashion experiments have long become an integral part of it. If only for this reason, studying trends from British catwalks is especially entertaining: it is there that the real fashionable avant-garde is cleverly intertwined with simple, pre-tested and commercial successful ideas. The 10 main trends of autumn and winter 2018 turned out exactly the same!

Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn, Roland Mouret

We have already seen several options for a black leather coat before - at New York Fashion Week, where this outerwear began its triumphal march. In London, designers exaggerate the ideas of their "Western colleagues", adding even wider shoulders or trimming it with multiple zippers: rebellious London, as you remember, is also the birthplace of the gloomy grunge grunge of the 90s.

Colored total bow

Eudon Choi, Molly Goddard, Emilia Wickstead, Preen, Shrimps, Roksanda, Natasha Zinko

For all the seeming simplicity of this idea, it is not so easy to create a fresh image in one color or gradation of related shades. On the one hand, this can make the designer's work more interesting: when the viewer is no longer distracted by contrasting color combinations, bright prints or abundant decor, the design features of the clothes come to the fore - cut, silhouette, texture. On the other hand, the designer is haunted by a high probability of a miss: one mistake in the design - and a colored total bow will highlight it in the best way.

To repeat a bright total look in life, we advise you to measure all the things of the image together when buying. If you go wrong with even one shade (even if it is a bag or shoes), there is a great risk that your outfit will turn from being trendy to simply sloppy.

Burberry

Ashish

We have already seen both black raincoats and colored monochrome images, and more than once. The real discovery of London Fashion Week is clothes that are literally painted in a rainbow. Christopher Bailey did this most brilliantly in his latest collection for Burberry, dedicated to LGBT youth (and although the brand operates on the see now buy now system, its share in the entire London Fashion Week is so huge that we simply cannot ignore it) ... Bailey and Ashish Gupta echo, dedicating the collection not so much to the LGBT community as to the idea of love in general.

Wide strip

Marques "Almeida, Mother of Pearl, Emilia Wickstead, JW Anderson

If rainbow stripes for some reason (hopefully not homophobic) do not inspire you, there are usual stripes to replace them, which in the next season the wider, the better. Horizontal, vertical or diagonal is not that important. The pinnacle of skill is to combine them in one outfit.

Gareth Pugh, Ports 1961, Fyodor Golan, Halpern

The most "tasteless" era in the fashion chronicle excites the hearts and minds of designers for the fourth season in a row, and, it seems, does not intend to give up its positions. In New York, there was a real craze for leopard print, which survived a journey through the entire color palette; in London, a zebra print is added to it and, of course, other signs of the era - crazy eclecticism, triumph sports style and "business woman" suits.

Mother of Pearl, Temperley London, Richard Quinn, Erdem

The classic and most romantic print in the coming season will appear in a refined form, practically devoid of any extreme connotations. The image from the Richard Quinn show, which became famous after being visited by Queen Elizabeth II herself, does not count.

Stylized merchandise

House of Holland, Nicopanda, Ashish

Stylized merchandise is exactly what we meant when we talked about the innovative and progressive spirit of the British capital. Perhaps it is he who should be awarded the title of the most interesting trend, which simply did not appear at any other Fashion Week. Nicola Formichetti's Nicopanda brand has a redesigned logo of the Nirvana group, well known to all fans of Kurt Cobain's work and just the generation of the 90s. The Ashish brand has a whole set of changed logos of famous payment systems: in the photo - American Express, which turned into American Excess (which in the context of the modern political situation looks very sharp). The safest way - styling for sports merch - we found at House of Holland.

we are from the future

Marques "Almeida, Halpern, Ports 1961, Erdem

Metallic silver in the coming season is a tribute to the legacy of the 60s with their desire to conquer the universe. For inspiration - the fashion archives of Paco Rabanne, André Courreges and Pierre Cardin, as well as, of course, the film "Barbarella" with the seductive Jane Fonda in the title role.

Triumph of tartan

Emilia Wickstead, Marta Jakubowski, Simone Rocha, Isa Arfen

Last fall, we hunted for jackets and whole suits, dyed in the Prince of Wales' gray check. In the future, we will turn our attention to the classic red and black tartan, the symbol of Scotland, and things will not be limited to suits alone. The easiest option is trousers, like Marta Jakubowski, the most spectacular is dramatic long dress as in the collection of the famous Irishwoman Simone Roshi.

Loud slogans

Marques "Almeida, Nicopanda, Marques" Almeida, Christopher Kane

At the shows of the spring-summer collections this year, serenity and pastel-dessert shades reigned. In autumn and winter, we will again return to slogans, the volume of which ranges from harmless hedonistic to straightforward feminist that have already become habitual.

Finished London Fashion Week FW 2018-2019, giving us a charge of fashionable mood for the coming autumn-winter season. It's too early to buy new clothes, so we suggest you catch inspiration in street style - chronicles. The most interesting and cool outfits straight from the streets of London are in today's selection.

London clothing style: get creative

We throw up a party for no reason and imagine what we will wear in a year. The street style of London is an endless maze. But you know - we will not leave you without fashion tips. Wind on your mustache (and down).

  • At London Fashion Week fall-winter 2018-2019, total looks were absolutely everywhere: both on the catwalk and on the streets. To replicate this new-old trend in style, wear monochrome garments in any order. The most popular shades are red, lavender, yellow and nude.
  • Basque (yes, it still exists) emphasizes the waist, intelligently placing accents in the image. So suddenly a straight-cut dress is lying around in your closet, and you cannot get rid of the thought that (oh, horror!) It doesn’t paint you, and then the basque comes to the fore.
  • Sports style looks - love and adoration. No comment here.
  • Leopard print is an absolute trend in 2018. We give free rein to the animal nature and are preparing to conquer the stone jungs.
  • How far are we willing to go in investing in own style? London fashionistas, for example, wear a mesh bag without remorse, which is too similar to the one that they take with them to the market.
  • When choosing sunglasses, remember: the narrower the lenses, the better. Cat eye glasses have been in trend for several seasons in a row. Let's be honest: this accessory will add coolness to even the most boring look. Street style - the goddesses of London do not go out into the street without them.
  • Coats and jackets in a cage will never give up positions, which was once again proved by the guests of London Fashion Week. We add on our own: bright accessories in the image can put you on a par with the best trendsetters in the world.

Recently, the fashion weeks marathon ended, which began in New York, continued in London and Milan and came to an end in Paris. Counting all impressions is a laborious and generally useless task, as well as forcing you to chaotically search for interesting information. For a month we followed
behind all the shows, dismantled the most original collections into meanings and references
and at the end of each of the four weeks, they analyzed what they saw and made conclusions. To make it easier for you to navigate the situation and independently choose which event to study in all details, we have compiled a digest on the brightest moments from all fashion weeks.

The best impressions. New York

Calvin klein

Concentrated America was still felt
in the designer's last collection for Calvin Klein. Now, although he continues to develop this topic, he still moves away from direct quotes in the spirit of the American flag or cowboy boots.
For the new season, Simons decided to delve into the world of associative images and symbols that flood the pop culture show.
American horror movies, full of cliché images of cheerleaders and schoolgirls, have become
into a rather harsh allegory for the real horrors of American reality.

Helmut lang

Minimalism, which Lang went with as a pair
with agenderness, Shane Oliver has become aggressive and frankly fetishistic: asymmetric leather bras on men and women, men's bodysuits in the form of a belt design, PVC, leather pants and raincoats made in red and black colors... From the archives of the 90s, translucent tops, asymmetric tayloring, plain white T-shirts, complex snow-white suits and metallic raincoats have returned. Nevertheless, Lang's naive and complex simplicity, which at one time made him the favorite designer of the New York creative intelligentsia, faded into the background.
and got lost in Oliver's quest to showcase his contribution to the brand.

Marc jacobs

It was difficult to trace a single leitmotif - it seems that the designer was inspired by collectively the discharged and multinational New York crowd, which is familiar to everyone who has ever been there, let alone lives. They opened the show of a model in bright baggy suits and cardigans as if with male shoulder that somehow harmoniously combined with exotic turbans. Further on the podium everything was mixed: rhinestones, loose-fitting robes in the manner of African, evening dresses, fur boai elegant long gloves in the spirit of the opera singer Cynthia Hawkins from Jean-JacquesBenex's film Diva.

Main results

The public's attention was focused on the newcomers to the schedule - Rafa Simons (although he can hardly be called a newcomer) and Oliver Scheine
as part of Helmut Lang, which this season have shown themselves to be innovators, able to create trends, and not follow them, unlike many young and not so designers this season.

Judging by the collections shown in New York, the main trends of the next season will be things with deliberately American motives, clothes made of transparent fabrics, midi-length skirts and others.

The best impressions. London

J.W. Anderson

Everyone is used to seeing avant-garde, numerous cultural references and disregard for the concept of gender in the works of Jonathan Anderson - take at least a show of the men's collection, for which he dressed guys in frilled skirts. Now the designer increasingly began to turn to simplicity, explaining this by the desire to "return to the person himself." The spring-summer women's collection was a direct continuation of this idea - the designer was inspired by prehistoric times, when there were no clothes as such.

Christopher kane

The designer built his collection on the paradoxes "private - public" and "housewives - BDSM". From pretty homely ruffles to tayloring as a reference to the serious guests of a brothel, the collection from image to image acquired an increasingly frank and sexy character. An oxymoron cloak made of glossy black leather in the spirit of BDSM with a white ruffled collar became an irony addressed to prim housewives and their not quite prim thoughts, but transparent dresses with frills parodied negligees.

Burberry

Christopher Bailey, it seems, has decided to thoroughly rethink the brand in the direction of commercial success. First, Bailey also added curatorship to his main work: the designer presented a retrospective exhibition of 20th century photography, and also invited Gaucher Rubchinsky to photograph several bows from the collection, and these images were also included in the exhibition. The collection itself has become a mix of British cultural codes - Chavs and aristocracy.

London Fashion Week has traditionally been one of the most eccentric and funniest, with young designers drawn to the vibe of London's streets and some of the best design universities in Western Europe. As for the trends of the spring-summer 2018 season according to the participants of the London Fashion Week, you should pay attention to everything that is covered with sequins or flowers in their most diverse manifestations (from prints to appliqués), as well as things in a dynamic color palette, which can only be called "pop art".

The best impressions. Milan

Gucci

The theme of ancient paganism and idol worship was traced both in clothing and in accessories that resembled amulets; among them were not only beads and pearls, but also horns. And the models in dresses to the floor, with boleros and hoods looked like priestesses. At the same time, the collection itself became more of an ode to the kitsch of the 70s. It was symbolized by the tousled hairstyles from the movie "Hairspray", wide-brimmed hats, satin and velvet kitsch jackets as if from the shoulder of the Rolling Stones. And the main character of the collection is Elton John, as evidenced by shiny bodysuits, shining overalls and geometric glasses in rhinestones.

Prada

Miuccia Prada has already made it clear which side she takes in relation to feminism - in the last collection, the designer suggested women to resist darkness with the help of kitsch and glamor, and this season she decided to take an even tougher stance. Tayloring, tomboy style and rave are the main ingredients in the image of the riot girl through the prism of Prada. T-shirt prints adorned the drawings of artists of the 30s and 60s, they also appeared on the scenery of the show.

Versace

Donatella Versace made the spring-summer 2018 collection a tribute to her brother's life and work. For the first time, the designer returned to the catwalk the iconic pieces from the collections of Gianni Versace, which came out from 1991 to 1995: among them Vogue, Warhol, Animalia, Native Americans, Tresor de la Mer and others. The show was closed, as in the 90s, by supermodels Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen.

Milan Fashion Week this season was remembered for personnel changes and memorable shows. Roberto Cavalli's new creative director Paul Surridge showed off his first collection, while Lucy and Luc Mayer debuted in Jil Sander. At Milan Fashion Week, the key trends were dresses, jackets, raincoats and other items with animal prints, items in the spirit of intellectual minimalism and western motifs already seen in New York.

The fashion marathon continues in London, where Fashion Week will take place from 14 to 18 September. Foggy Albion is a well-known forge of young talented designers, but in Lately Local Week's stakes are boosted by big participating brands as well as high-profile guests like Queen Elizabeth II at rookie Richard Quinn's runway last season. Who we will see among the guests this time and what to expect from London Fashion Week - in our material.

Of course, the biggest intrigue of the season is Riccardo Tisci's debut as creative director for Burberry. We will see the first collection of Riccardo in a new position on September 17th. In July, Tisci announced a collaboration between the British House and Vivienne Westwood, and although the collection will only go on sale in December, this unexpected move from the Italian makes us understand that with his arrival, Burberry is definitely waiting for radical changes (which is worth the updated brand logo).

The debut London Fashion Week will also be for Alexa Chang - a journalist, blogger and fashionista will show her own brand's collection on the catwalk on September 15 for the first time. Chang launched a clothing line of the same name in May last year, managed to present it in Moscow and will now conquer London Fashion Week. Alexa's brand has become further proof that brands founded by stars are as interesting to the public as the work of graduates of Central Saint Martins and major fashion houses. There is a place for everyone.

Victoria Beckham decided to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her brand by returning to her native land. Despite the fact that the office is actually based in London, Victoria Beckham shows have always been held at New York Fashion Week. We will be able to assess whether the change of location influenced Victoria's fantasy on September 16. We assume that the show will be nostalgic, and perhaps we will see the full lineup of the Spice Girls in the front row.

Shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood, who had previously limited himself to small presentations in Paris, also decided to stage a full Nicholas Kirkwood show as part of the main schedule for London Week. “I live and work in London and find inspiration here, so it was a logical step. I'm not going to do the show in a traditional format, everything will be much more complicated and interesting, ”Kirkwood said.

Despite the fact that British fashion is considered one of the most conservative, the London Fashion Week shows presented many interesting surprises.
